Just4uCupCake
So I just looked at the her rules and I just couldn't believe how good she is. I want to run her in my guard army but what unit do I throw her in?? Or do I not even throw her in a unit? Because of jump infantry... WarriorFish
She's very tough, a tank by another name - also quite capable in assault though not against 2+ saves. She will tackle enemy troops as a bully unit nicely, and it's not hard to add some punch to a Guard list. She might be better as a defensive unit, holding ground and counter assaulting? Attaching her to a blob squad could be an option but I think she may be better off running solo in a Guard army. Jacinda
She can be used with normal infantry, it's just a bit more complex. For example, you want to join her with a vet squad. Put the vets in a transport with Celestine next to them during deployment. Have the vets move 6" and disembark 6" towards the enemy. Celestine and twins move up into coherency thus joining the squad. In the shooting phase, have them run so you can get the Sisters up front to tank the enemies fire. On turn two, everyone gets tomove at their own distance. While the vets move up 6", Celestine moves up 12" towards who you want to charge and have the two Geminae conga-line back to the squad for coherency. At the worst you will (almost) always have Celestine and one geminae to lead the charge on turn two. Put a power fist on your vet sergeant for the hard punch and maybe toss in a priest with an eviscerator for some jolly good re-roll AV2 fun while your at it. All that said, I don't like my guardsman in close combat. I would run Saint C and the girls separately as hit and run harassers and let the guard do what they do best. Volume of fire. Inso
A small unit of sisters to join Celestine would be quite fluffy and would mean that they would cope better with assault. Nicodemus Doloroso
Would she be able to move with Rough Riders since they can move 12" on their horses and she can move 12" with her jump pack? Also with lances the RR match up with her bully abilities (albeit only on the first charge). Her tanking abilities might give RR a new lease on life. They are pretty much the only thing in the guard codex that can keep up with her when she joins a unit. She is super tough, so most of those rough riders should make it to whatever you want charged. Hmm... that actually sounds like a super fun unit to play, I may need to get some rough riders now! WarriorFish
She could take the reaction fire on the charge too, and with AP3 of her own the unit would blitz through MEQ! robofish7591
Plus, if an assault isn't going your way, you can always hit and run out of it! Cap'm Heckus
Darn it, now I'm gonna have to get a Celestine for my Riders. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330284-saint-celestine-with-guard/#findComment-4635351 Share on other sites
dakkamasta
Yea when Celestine came out with the new rules my first thought in relation to Guard was Rough Riders. Their lances pair up very well with Celestine's attacks and with a melta bomb on the sergeant you can even threaten vehicles between the bomb and Celestine's armourbane attacks. She also solves the main problem that Riders have which is getting into assault without getting shot to bits. Master Antaeus
Have her front a unit of Bullgryn with slabshields. She tanks wounds for them and they provide nigh-unkillable cover for everything behind them. WarriorFish
That's another good idea Antaeus, especially as I have some Bullgryns in the pipeline ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330284-saint-celestine-with-guard/#findComment-4635884 Share on other sites
Master Antaeus
Wait, does she confer hit and run? At her insane initiative? Hit and Run Bullgryns? That's hysterical. Jacinda
Yes, H&R only requires one model in the unit to have the rule. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330284-saint-celestine-with-guard/#findComment-4636469 Share on other sites
dakkamasta
The good thing about bullgryns aswell is that they give her majority toughness 5 making her even more tanky :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330284-saint-celestine-with-guard/#findComment-4636682 Share on other sites
