Saint Celestine with guard

She's very tough, a tank by another name - also quite capable in assault though not against 2+ saves. She will tackle enemy troops as a bully unit nicely, and it's not hard to add some punch to a Guard list. She might be better as a defensive unit, holding ground and counter assaulting? Attaching her to a blob squad could be an option but I think she may be better off running solo in a Guard army.

She can be used with normal infantry, it's just a bit more complex.

For example, you want to join her with a vet squad.  Put the vets in a transport with Celestine next to them during deployment.  Have the vets move 6" and disembark 6" towards the enemy.  Celestine and twins move up into coherency thus joining the squad.  In the shooting phase, have them run so you can get the Sisters up front to tank the enemies fire.

On turn two, everyone gets tomove at their own distance.  While the vets move up 6", Celestine moves up 12" towards who you want to charge and have the two Geminae conga-line back to the squad for coherency.  At the worst you will (almost) always have Celestine and one geminae to lead the charge on turn two.

Put a power fist on your vet sergeant for the hard punch and maybe toss in a priest with an eviscerator for some jolly good re-roll AV2 fun while your at it.

All that said, I don't like my guardsman in close combat.  I would run Saint C and the girls separately as hit and run harassers and let the guard do what they do best.  Volume of fire.

Would she be able to move with Rough Riders since they can move 12" on their horses and she can move 12" with her jump pack? Also with lances the RR match up with her bully abilities (albeit only on the first charge). Her tanking abilities might give RR a new lease on life.

This is what I was thinking. They are pretty much the only thing in the guard codex that can keep up with her when she joins a unit. She is super tough, so most of those rough riders should make it to whatever you want charged. Hmm... that actually sounds like a super fun unit to play, I may need to get some rough riders now! laugh.png

Yea when Celestine came out with the new rules my first thought in relation to Guard was Rough Riders. Their lances pair up very well with Celestine's attacks and with a melta bomb on the sergeant you can even threaten vehicles between the bomb and Celestine's armourbane attacks.

She also solves the main problem that Riders have which is getting into assault without getting shot to bits.
