Both are acceptable as codex compliant as long as both the white and red are there. You can have red helmets with white stripes or laurels, or a white veteran helmet with red laurels or a red sergeant stripe.

If you look at the older art, like before 5E, the Ultramarine Veterans often had either type of helmet. Here's some of the old OOP metal veterans with red helmets instead of white:

Yeah, a Veteran Sergeant is a Veteran Sergeant, regardless of the company he's in. So red with a white stripe.

This.

A Veteran Sergeant in any other company is actually seconded from the first company. So in essence, a Veteran Sgt always looks the same in a given chapter in the 1st-9th companies.

Red yellow is hard to make look good. So the white makes sense.

That's exactly what happened with me, I painted the terminator helmets red then found that awesome artwork of the imperial fists marching and switched them all to white. Sorry I can't like your post it won't work with my android!
