depthcharge12
Hey fellow heretics, I was curious how you'd think the SoH would have seeker squads set up? I'm thinking mkIV armor, topknots, loincloths, ferrox umbra bolters, and some trophies. They will have all have combi-plasma bolters, but I'm debating if I should do WYSIWYG or rule of cool with seeker bolters/ferrox-umbra? Demonl
Is money an issue? I would recommend going MKII and getting the SoH head upgrade pack (and some other heads if you got any) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330334-how-best-to-model-soh-seekers/#findComment-4636646 Share on other sites
Rangaman
I was thinking along the same lines as you Depthcharge, but using MkVI instead...the Sons of Horus did corroborate with the Alpha Legion as csn be seen with Banestrike bolts, who is to say it stopped there? Gold dipped skulls, Cthonian coins and top knots would be best, I might even suggest the retro red glove look from Visions of Heresy too.... I'm personally not a fan of mkVI but I could see it happening. I love mkV but I feel Seekers would have the advanced stuff for maximum shootyness. Maybe recon heads on mkIV/VI bodies? Edit: Destroyer helmets? Howbah dah? :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330334-how-best-to-model-soh-seekers/#findComment-4636650 Share on other sites
KBA
Who says Seekers need the most advanced armor? :P http://s28.postimg.org/5bbl0q7bx/image.jpg http://s28.postimg.org/ran1l1uhp/image.jpg And this guy is SoH all the way Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330334-how-best-to-model-soh-seekers/#findComment-4636669 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
Ok, so ignore the base size and bolter type on these guys, but I'm thinking of giving them topknots, gold dipped skulls, the works: http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac316/treacyjohn2/1E7C3CE3-96ED-4529-B6FC-5438B1EFF3C5_zpsgbrx7h4r.jpg I gave them all that funky mkIV helmet that I've always though was the coolest, but looks visually distinct from regular shmoe mkIV helmets. The seeker leader of course has my favorite bare head of all time, but it's fitting as he's got integrated optics welded to his face, and has prime real-estate for a top knot on that "true son" head ;) @KBA I love those suppressors man! Marshal Loss
Heavily customised, and a lot of trophies. Festooned in runes, chains and of course skulls dipped in gold to denote worthy foes. Dantay VI
These are my seekers. B@C Mk4 armour, majority recon heads and combi weapons. depthcharge12
Anyone have good idea of how to do mirror coins? I looked at my command squad guys and I'm thinking of doing just a press mold or trying to make little discs out of GS Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330334-how-best-to-model-soh-seekers/#findComment-4636973 Share on other sites
Spaced Hulk
Easiest way I can think of to make mirror coins is to use the thin pieces of resin gate that are sometimes still attached to FW models. The bit that's like a thin resin rod (about the same thickness as an aerial on a vox caster). Just slice very thin slices off with a sharp knife, and don't cough or sneeze while you're working! ☺ You've also inspired me to build some First Legion Seekers as well now! ☺ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330334-how-best-to-model-soh-seekers/#findComment-4637035 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Looks like the suppressors from the recon marine sniper rifles. For mine, I used either the ends from Kroot rifles or the barrels from IG hellguns Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330334-how-best-to-model-soh-seekers/#findComment-4637039 Share on other sites

It's probably a good idea, I'll need to find some thinner ones. It's ironic I pick the First Legion and the First Among Equals...maybe it's because I'm the oldest child or my competitive streak lol. Brother Pheidias
I know, I know, wrong Legion, but Tigrus Bolters with the antennae from Grey Knight teleporter-backpacks for suppressors works well on the cheap:http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u490/Revnesko/WH40K/White%20Scars/DSC02088_zpspjpgkcro.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330334-how-best-to-model-soh-seekers/#findComment-4637088 Share on other sites

Aramis K
I used a lot of deathwatch bits for Seekers too, guns, wrist comps, backpack monitors, and chest ammo. Also Sternguard stuff. Wanted something high-tech and tacticool looking, and less uniform with a mix of kit in the unit. I also really like the GK backpack vanes as silencers. http://i.imgur.com/zgjLtjT.jpg That said I imagine SoH Seekers a little differently to Alphas, more about sudden targetted savagery. So trophies and gang markings, warpaint on armour. Good opportunity to mix up your usual scheme, maybe a darker look. depthcharge12
Would anyone have an aneurism if I mixed umbra and ferrox umbra together? I hate the idea of a "uniformed look" especially for SoH...I feel that wash seeker should be unique. Ion
Anyone have good idea of how to do mirror coins? I looked at my command squad guys and I'm thinking of doing just a press mold or trying to make little discs out of GS What I did was roll out thin snakes of greenstuff, cut them to thickness, and carefully glued them to a thin bit of brass wire. You might not get uniform shapes, but I feel like mirror coins wouldn't exactly be minted in the way we do our coins, so it works. Would anyone have an aneurism if I mixed umbra and ferrox umbra together? I hate the idea of a "uniformed look" especially for SoH...I feel that wash seeker should be unique. The more cthonic influence spread, the more likely each SoH would personalise their stuff imo. My reavers are made from the MKIV assault squad, but they all have unique things about them to make them stand out. I think mixed weapons loadouts works really well for SoH. Withershadow
Well, the original plan was to use the Headhunter models to represent Seekers, but seeing as combi-weapons are better on veterans now and seekers are quite good with their basic rounds, I intend to use the headhunters as combi-veterans, while a Recon squad will represent my seekers. The cloaks and long rifles are wicked cool, and the base unit is quite terrible, so I think they would make cool looking Seekers. depthcharge12
I did what I thought would be a good start for the seeker chieftain, of course he needs a topknot, but who doesn't these days? :D http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac316/treacyjohn2/524D6099-9FF3-4D8B-B0A6-AA8471A37039_zpsfvsonivv.jpg He's perched, ready to add another gold dipped skull to his collection of worthy kills: http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac316/treacyjohn2/E396D846-C19E-4377-B7D6-8141084C672A_zps9dmcinzk.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330334-how-best-to-model-soh-seekers/#findComment-4638401 Share on other sites
