Trying To Decide A Paint Scheme.

Recommended Posts

My Chapter Is An Imperial Fist Descendant Chapter. Been Trying To Decide A Paint Scheme. Originally It Was Imperial Fists Yellow, Then Darker Yellow, Then White, Then Red. I Liked Them All But Red Was Easiest To Paint.

I Have No Idea What Scheme I Want For A Paint Scheme. *

What colours would you prefer? Darker or lighter? Would you rather have brighter/pastel colours or more subdued colours (like navy blue, olive green etc.)? I think it'd be easier to decide on a paint scheme if you gave us a bit more information to work with. :)

That's the issue. I like them all. The closest I've gotten to deciding is Gold Accents like from a 3rd Company. With the main armor being either Yellow, White, or Red.

When I paint them one way I sort of want the other paint scheme and vice versa. *

There are 3 main ways to decide on colour schemes.

1) Visual - Does it look amazing to you?

2) Skill - Does this scheme challenge you to become a better painter?

3) Consistency - can you repeat this scheme across your entire army?

My Imperial Fists are a mix of main armour colours, and techniques used. Why? As I've moved on from when I started, I've begun airbrushing for basecoats and vehicles, trialling different shades of yellow, and different ways to shade.

Some how, the army ties together quite well.

They all seemed cool when complete.

Most of the army is red like I was sort of compelled to do that while trying to decide since the red was easiest to paint. When they are red I want white or yellow. When they are white I want yellow or red. When they are yellow I want white or red.

I'm not trolling or spamming.

It has been tough deciding.

You could use white on pauldron trim or kneepads for squad identifiers. Or white helms for veterans.

One word of caution on red marines: most people you play with will think and remark that they're some flavor of Blood Angels.

You can take my word that painting a successor chapter with a different primary color than that of the parent chapter will somehow cause confusion.
