Evolution of the 'War Room'

Hi All,

Thought I'd post a WIP of the projects that is always ongoing behind the scenes of my armies. The 'War Room', is the hobby heaven in my house and was only possible after moving into a house with a double garage a year or so ago (and a long suffering wife). This is now the main gaming location of my close group of gaming buddies.

It is very much a work in progress improving all the time (put in a work bench last week), and gradually expanding my terrain.

The Plan:

Really dig your set up (consider it stolen!) I have a few nitty gritty questions about the construction.

You used 2x2s for the frame work correct?

Did you end up boxing up the "legs" to prevent them from shifting outwards with excessive force/weight?

How did you build the top portion? Did you just toe nail the cross pieces or did you end up using a backing plate/gusset that isn't seen?

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Happy to help replicate my table elsewhere...... The frame is indeed made up of 2x2, however the corner legs are 4x4, for some extra strength. You can't see in the finished table but there are legs at each cross point down the centre and the shelves are attached, this has spread the weight over so many legs that I've not had any outwards shifting of the any legs.

With the cross pieces, again not visible, are small steel plates (picked up from B&Q ...'other hardware stores are available)and L shaped brackets for some of the legs.

The under table storage is actually an old kitchen table that was going to be scrapped which sits under the board.

Future design plans includes a canal sunken into the board void below as part of a city fight.

Any questions just give a shout happy to help.

Cheers,

Valaas

Right on! Thank you for the clarification. I never would of thought of a kitchen table for the storage area, very clever!

-adds gaming table to page 37 of things to do-

Just to warn you.....it will take over your list of things to do! Once you have it built then there's new terrain and new boards to build!

As I guiltily look at the Zone Mortalis setup requiring paint and the pad of terrain sketches gathering dust!

So I sign up for the waiting list to get in where?

Holy moly that is an awesome set up.

No waiting list required, if anyone is visiting the Aberdeen (Scotland) area they are always welcome for a game and a beer!

Cheers,

Valaas
