"They still fear me. Even outnumbered and armed only with a shattered axe, they still fear me. I can smell it in their sweat, hear it in their voices, and see it it their wide eyes that reflect the flames."

A work in progress log for my army.

I've never actually played the game of 40K. I've only ever had a few models and painted them up for myself and friends. I decided to collect my first army. I chose Blood Angels and this was the first box to arrive ft. Blu the kitten. You may find she appears in some regular photos, she's not camera shy.

Time to get started.

I've built most of the models in the box but haven't got to the tactical squad yet. I laid down some base coats last night. I'm using a black base coat, then slow gradient up from khorne red, mepheston red and the old blood red from GW. This photo was taken in natural light and the airbrush makes it very matte which I don't particularly want. My wash method should tighten that surface up a bit.

Testing lightbox with some fancy photography, couldn't help but take some s

naps of Blu.

I purchased some new models online last night, I picked up a great deal on some second hand miniatures. I'll get a list together of what I got but I just wanted to share that I found some of the Space Hulk Blood Angel Terminators including the Liberian. Can barely contain myself, I love those models.

Spent some time playing with washes and trying to figure out the best method to use on the entire army. I'm going to go with a gloss varnish, a wash of riekland fleshshade gloss followed by a light dusting of testors dullcote. This is the result I have so far using the little dude who sits on top of the Baal Predator. I think it looks quite good for the little effort involved. Those gloss washes really work on their own, minimal surface clean up.

I got home last night with really good intention to attack some modeling but after a gym session I just had no energy left. I did get some assembly done. This is the pack from the Collectors Box - the Blood Angels come with so much ornate detail I'm real excited to get some done this weekend. I've also used some extra bits to help signify who is the Sergeant. I'm running two as I've split this tac squad up into two combat squads to fill my troop choices.

Check out all that plastic detail!

So I had a bit of an issue with these Space Hulk terminators. Ideally for my list, I want an assault squad of TH/SS. But I'll paint these guys up while I wait until I make another order through Games Workshop. The detail on these guys is crazy - I reckon I'll use that libby though so I added the stormshield I want him to have.

Thanks Biohazard. I'm looking forward to it as well.

I've assembled a Liberian Dread. I've always wanted one of these, I'm not sure of their usefulness in the game but I just have to run one, because who else can? Blood Angels can. Yes he's missing a foot.. I think my cat has taken it somewhere?

Boom. Leviathan. I have all his melee weapons coming in the mail. He's fully magnetized for weaponry. All my models have been primed and are still curing (looks a bit glossy in these pics) but I suspect I will be getting some red on tomorrow!
