Cloud Runner
Am I the only one that thinks the larger Custodes dread looks like the Hulk-buster? I'm really tempted to do some of the Custodes with dreads in the Iron Man scheme - but cost does prevent that somewhat Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330574-heresy-weekender-news-and-discussion/page/17/#findComment-4651099 Share on other sites

Vogon
Can anyone with the book clarify something for me. The jetbikes seem to come armed with an Iliastus Bolt Cannon but it doesn’t seem to be rules for one. I see Iliastus Accelerator Cannon or Lastrum Bolt Cannon. Are the rules hiding somewhere else? Gree
It's a bit late for me to reply, but I'll put in my two cents. Can somebody break that spoiler down Barney style for me? It's a distinct possibility that all of the Thousand Sons are dead save Ahriman, and the rest are incredibly convincing facsimiles created by Tzeentch to lead him on his merry way to further and further damnation. They may be so convincing that they think they're real, too.Not necessarily to be taken too seriously but it's a fun thought experiment they threw into the book. A possibility. Yeah that sounds pretty stupid. Not every Thousand Sons player is interested in playing Ahriman. Or they might be interested in developing their own homebrew Thousand Sons characters and warbands. It feels like it would really cheapen the whole army in favor of a single special character. Well at least I'm fine with it being framed with just flawed in-universe speculation by an Imperial historian. Could you expand a bit on the Ultramarines and Imperials firsts that attack the Thousand sons? What were the circumstances?Edit: their still in better shape than the Raven Guard were after Istvaan, though of course the Raven guard still have deliverence and the Emperor/Corax's Super fast rebuild effort. Yeap. 2000 Thousand Sons under Sentor Rahme of the Ninth Fellowship are murdered in their encampments by the Ultramarines somewhere, and another 300 veterans of the 7th are abandoned to their deaths by the Imperial Fists while they're engaged in a dangerous compliance. Hard to feel sympathy for the Ultramarines at Calth now really. Now it makes me wonder what the Thousand Sons battle strength Post-Heresy looks like now given these numbers. Brofist
Now that it’s been about a week I’ve had some more time to spend with the new book. I hate to say it, and despite how happy I am that Wolves and TKsons have awesome rules, Prospero is a step back for overall game balance. Whatever the reason- scale, power creep, limited testing, bad editing – the jump up in power level here is harsh and uneven. Considering how many years this book was in production I really expected they’d do a better job. 1ncarnadine
Hard to feel sympathy for the Ultramarines at Calth now really. There are differences. The Ultramarines here have been ordered by some of the highest Imperial authorities on the grounds that the Thousand Sons are basically the worst thing in the galaxy (witches akin to the terrors of Old Night). Those who have defied a direct order of the Emperor are pretty much expected to suffer extermination in this setting, whereas Calth is incredibly base betrayal under the guise of kinship, prosecuted for the sake of mad gods. Did the book elaborate where exactly the Ultramarines got their orders from? The orders where originally just apprehension and not extermination right? Or does this book retcon the Emperor's orders to always be just straight extermination. I still don't feel any sympathy for the Ultramarines, especially as Guilliman himself violated the the Nikea edict and violated the Emperor's direct order as well later on. How many of the Thousand Sons were even aware of why they were even being killed or what was happening at Prospero and Terra? How many did the Ultramarines or the Imperial Fists kill or abandon under the guise of kinship? It doesn't say where they get their orders from, but presumably Russ and/or Valdor contacted Guilliman. There really aren't many details, so when we make assumptions it's just us projecting what we want to see about it. I imagine it's similar to Monarchia from the perspective of the Ultramarines, though. Regardless, I think this is it for me posting on the book's contents. I'll let the book drop in a few weeks and you can all make your judgements on the text itself from there, instead of getting a second-hand read. It's also exhausting to see how polarized people get off that same second-hand info, and I'd rather use that energy for modeling while I have it. Atia
Attia has a website ? Do you mean battle bunnies? Actually - I have two blogs. One is Battle Bunnies (with my fellow bunnies), the other is War of Sigmar (with bob) which has all the news and rumours stuff on it - I should have links to both in my signature. Speaking about Battle Bunnies and Inferno - I made an overview for the thousand sons today :) http://battlebunnies.blogspot.co.at/2017/02/inferno-overview-thousand-sons.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330574-heresy-weekender-news-and-discussion/page/17/#findComment-4651683 Share on other sites

Agreed there are many broken rules in this book which they where supposed to have been working on for a long time now. I wanna be positive but when you have things like Magnus, -2 to hit in close combat Russ, 3++ Rerollable Tribune, missing weapons, etc it makes it really hard to be positive about it. I hope the book comes with a day one FAQ for it. Will excuse if the fluff is offered from a SW player :D The SoH contingent makes sense, someone has to bring russ the new orders from the warmaster. Given that Russ is a Primarch you can't just send some random guy with a note, a legion battalion commander with a 5000 man guard seems like the right level for that kind of message. But I haven't read the fluff from Inferno yet. Marshal Loss
It also appears they were there to weed out loyalists who were not ready for the coming war, and observing how the Custodes fought and (more importantly) died. Not to mention the masses of psykers they captured and took off planet, ready to be used as weapons in the years to come. Nusquam
During the event, generally speaking, or perhaps Inferno does Thousand Sons "Sun" symbol have a name? Rather than the 'Sons Sun? YOu can see how that would be confusing. I know the later dragon eating its tail is a type of ouroboros symbol. But the "sun" symbol is, well a sun or star. Does it have a fancy name?
