what color to hight dark copper

I started painting my model and instead of gold, I wanted to go more viking/germanic/ancient metal style and use a nice dark copper. I achieved my base with a simple Balthasar Gold with Agrax Earthshade highlight. I know most people highlight in Runefang Steel, but a dark copper doesn't rub/wear into a silvery color but more of a light gold. I thought about using Gehenna's Gold as a highlight, would that be acceptable?

When I need copper (for armies such as my ogres) I usually mix balthasar gold with a darker brown colour, like rhinox hide, for the base coat. Then shade with agrax earthshade and seraphim sepia, followed by a highlight of balthasar gold mixed with runefang steel.

Gives a nice, brownish copper. And of course some nice pale blue rust.

I was going for a heavily oiled look on the brass, I might have gone a little too heavy.. It is my Wolf Lord using Geigor's armor, so lost Heresy-armor that was recovered using lots and lots of that good ol' holy oil.

Balthasar+runefang at a 50/50 ratio might work to give it a nice copper highlight.

If you mix a bright gold and a bright silver together (about 50/50), this gives you a nice colour for highlighting your copper with.

It's also worth noting that oiled copper is quite a dark brown, and you will get better results if you paint the base colour, then the highlight, then do the wash. This way, the wash helps blend in the highlight into the base colour a bit better to give you a more convincing finish.

You could also simply highlight with a pure iridescent/metallic medium so that it reflects edge light without any actual color. If you want it tinted a little more yellow or orangish-red, you can use a thin coat of yellow-brown tint/shade or red-brown tint/shade.
