bluntblade
I've only encountered these in Master of Mankind so far (unless you count Dune, of course). Are there any other sources that describe what they're capable of? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330946-ornithopter-capabilities/ Share on other sites
Battybattybats
The 1st ed rulebook Warhamner 40,000 Rogue Trader had them. I'm away from my copy at the moment though so can't look it up for you. bluntblade
It's not urgent. I'd be very grateful when you're able to take a look, though. Calgar 2.0
They're mentioned in Gaunt's Ghosts, Honour Guard specifically, although I think they're in His Last Command as well. In both they're utilized to transport staff officers. Battybattybats
Sorry for the late reply. The Ornithopter is on page 105 of Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader (aka 1st ed main book) and has the name The Orgus Flyer.Described as a light strike vehicle that would scout ahead of a main force and offer ground support. To make sense of it's stats i have to compare to other flyers in that edition.Max speed is 240 (the 'typical flyers' have 300 and the random has 5d6)Min speed is 24 (randoms have 6d6, typical flyers range from 0 to 36)Acceleration is 24 (same as the middle typical example, random is 6d6)TRR (turning) is 2 which is low for a flyer other than a hovererCrew is 2Toughness is a low 4 (the kitbash model is open-topped, random is d4+3)Damage is 30 (good for flyers, random is 4d6+20)No save (not unusual for flyers)Equipment points is 4 (mediumish for flyers)Weapons is 4 (lowish for flyers)Standard weaponry is a lascannon and a missile launcher, standard equipment is auto-drive, a targeter for the lascannon, a communicator and crew ejector seatsFor further comparison, the 1st ed land speederMax 24 (low as it doesn't fly, just hovers)Acceleration 8TRR 1Crew 2Toughness 7Damage 15Save 6Equipment 4Weapons 3Standard have a melta gun, a multi-melta, a communicator, a targeter for main armament, auto-drive and auto-aim for main armament.
