Just4uCupCake
Anyone have any clue on where to start the death korps ? I want to do a big infantry company with lots of artillery and air support would this be a viable option for a competitive army? Also... I have loads of cadians where do they differ are there different rules? And what book has all the death korps stuff? Captain_Krash
Forgeworld books are going to be the route you will be taking. IA Siege of Vraks IA Fall OF ORPHEUS They are a more siege style of warfare along with being better trained (rules wise) than every guardsmen in the imperium. WarriorFish
A Guardsman is a Guardsman - give him a lasgun and flak armour and he's ready to go in pretty much any army list ;) It's the specialist vehicles that are different, but the majority of Guard units are the game across all lists :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330959-starting-death-korps/#findComment-4655187 Share on other sites
BossSauce
Though kriegsmen know no fear more so than space marines and don't take moral tests for shooting losses, and Krak grenades base in the siege of vraks book. (20 pts. more but you lose combined squads). I would like to start them too, ditching my cadians for them but it's so expensive to buy them from forgeworld. Almost double the price of 10 cadians, and the shipping since I'm in the U.S... The Pounder
Go for it! Krieg are a very rewarding force both in modelling and gaming terms. I previously fielded a gunline with tonnes of troops and artillery. It was very potent, particularly for the first few turns. You'll find great satisfaction as your opponent's army begins to melt away underneath a hail of fire. The only real drawback is the price, round about £1 a point! I'm currently rebuilding my army this time with an emphasis on mobility. Should be fun. Good luck with your own. Mitchverr
I made space marines whimper as my kriegers wouldnt flee from bolter fire! But seriously, mass infantry/artillery works nicely, no tanks = AT weapons firing on T3 troopsers. As for mass infantry, can work. I would heavily suggest if you want to proper krieg read vraks at least (both is better) and then decide how you wanna play. Personally i preff heavily going death rider squadron, the death krops special formation where your HQ is a formation only leader called a colonel on a horse with his squad, and your 2 required units are 2 squads of death riders, whom gain obsec (aka "this is my point now"), but it only gets 2 infantry slots, but gets a total of 4 elite, 4 heavy and iirc 6 fast attack, all your death riders can fill into 2 platoons (you can get 7 squads per platoon including command which isnt a forced selection in death rider platoons). Allows for alot more big guns too (your big guns are elite and heavy choices) and you can get 4 squads of flametanks in fast attack, more if you squad them. Even if you dont go cavalry formation, i would recommend a couple units, with power axes, people heavily underestimate them and when they hit, they hit hard (and look cool). Always a recommend.
