Really though, you just mix a little silver into some black paint, highlight with a little sliver, and then lightly wash with a little thinned blue and black ink. This gives you a metallic black that's quite forgiving to paint and still looks good against the typical metal trims you see on 40k Chaos Marines.

I use Reaper Master Series Blackened Steel... or I mix a little black into Leadbelcher/Boltgun Metal/Whatever It Is Now.

 

I actually use it a lot in my fantasy stuff for the hafts of Dwarven axes and such with the axe-heads being regular Leadbelcher.

Metallics have always been my bane :P But I'm gradually getting better and trying new things.
