Purge the Daemon
What's the general consensus about using alternate force organization charts. Such as Leviathan (shunned upon I feel), Onslaught (seems to be more balanced at least has a downside of can't go first), Castellan (buildings I guess can't even see how this wold be a good option) But so what's the general feel about running one of these namely Onslaught, in terms of both local metas and tournaments. Runefyre
Well you can't take a RoW with the alternate FoC's, that's the big reason most Legion players don't take them. Mechanicum and SA make more use of them. But it's been very limited in my experience. The Leviathan is a special case, as I have to specifically tailor my list if I'm going to be facing it. It's usually not a fun battle (I hate fighting titans at low points levels). Noserenda
Yeah leviathan is not a fun thing to have sprung on you, the other two are pretty balanced against RoW tbh.I used to use Castellan a lot with my Iron Warriors but with them now having 2 awesome RoW and Defence networks being a thing (Plus LoW slot Forts!) its pretty redundant. Jackalwolf
I personally plan to run regularly an Onslaught list at 3k and above since I want to be able to field the amazing models of Russ and a Mastodon. That's actually exact the reason I was asking as I want to do this to lol. Jackalwolf
Ahah it's not the worse combination since you loose all Row benefits and it's not like you're taking the most über competitive list. Many groups also house rule that you can take a LoW and the Primarch in the normal FoC too. It's all about the spirit in which you're taking it. Are you going for onslaught to cram two Plasma warhound titans on a 3k game supporting Amon and a bunch of sekhmet terminators on spartans or you really want to do something thematic and cool. Withershadow
Leviathan is basically one less troop and one more heavy support, in exchange for always going second. Is that really so brutal? Yet people shun Leviathan while allowing Matrix of Ruin. The Leviathan Detachment lets you take a single LoW choice as your compulsory, with an allied detachment (and a couple other LoW slots I believe) being optional. Yeah Leviathan is 1-3 low + allies primary low has no 25% cap can over watch among other things and scores. Leviathan is brutal. Onslaught is 1 less min troop 1 less max HQ 1 compulsory heavy support 1 more max heavy support and 2 low still limited to 25% each. You always go second and no row.
