NiceGuyAdi
I've painting some purity seals on my Chaplain, and wanted a slightly glossy finish to them, so added a coat of 'Ardcoat afterwards. Unfortunately rather than looking glossy, it really just looks slimy: Anyone got any tips for toning down the strength of 'Ardcoat? Ideally after adding it (so I don't have to repaint them), but if I have to go again on them I can live with it. Stoic Raptor
Make sure you stir or shake it well before using - but if it's still not coming out the way you like, try a little Lahmian Medium mixed in with it. Hod
Like Ulfgrim said, use Lahmian Medium to tone down the gloss if it's too much. When applying for the first time, you can also water down the Ardcoat to make it less shinny. NiceGuyAdi
Thanks guys. I'd tried a couple of coats of Lahmian Medium over the 'Ardcoat before I took the photo in the OP. I'll hit it with a couple more, and if that's not done it, I'll redo them and thin it before glossing them this time. Bryan Blaire
You can also get some brush-on satin varnish from elsewhere and hit it with that a time or two, should cut the shine down, but still leave it semi-glossy. VulkansDynasty
Matte Medium works to dull the shiny as well. Just brush it on in a couple of thin layers till you get what you want. and Semi-Gloss medium works better than 'ard Coat for this effect in the future. alternatively you can spray on a matte sealant and it may bring the shine down.
