robofish7591
Hi everyone, I am in need of a little help. Recently a fledgling 30k group has started up at the shop I play at, and I am interested in joining in. I have attempted to start a 30k project a couple times now but never really got anywhere with it, however, I hope to change that. I have decided on a legion (although, if I don't start working on it soon it may change ), and that legion is the World Eaters. Lately I have been interested in working on chaos forces again, as chaos was my first army, and the World Eaters fit my vision of what my army would look like. I would like to have an army that has definitely fallen to chaos, so I was thinking that a World Eater army late in the heresy would fit the bill. Now, here are the questions I have for you all. Just when did the World Eaters fall to Khorne? It was after Angron became a daemon prince right? I am super behind on my Horus Heresy novels, and I only have book 1 of the Forge World books, is there any recommended reading, I plan on reading Betrayer next for a little inspiration. As for gaming, do I only need the two red books from Forge World or do any of the others have things relevant to the army? Thanks in advance everyone! blackoption
The World Eaters fell to Khorne in an almost gradual manner (and in more than one way). IF you mean when did the World Eaters become Trapped on the 8 fold path rather than the crimson path (which was the term for honor among gladiators philosophy of their primarch) then that occurred at the end of the Shadow Crusade (after Angron became a Daemon Prince ref the HH book Betrayer). If you are asking when did the World Eaters start dawning red and brass over the blue and white... that occurred piecemeal starting after Isstvan V (There is a HH short story of an alpha legion infiltrator on the bridge of a WE cruiser preventing the WE's from destroying a fleeing RG battlebarge). If you want to know when they started using broken (mentally) soldiers, the Red Butchers were first utilized at Isstivan V. Short Answer: While it is harder to determine when the World Eaters started the process, it is generally accepted that it was during the shadow crusade that the majority of the legion abandoned logic in favor of rage. If that is your marking point for when they 'fell to Khorne', but there are many steps along the way that could have also been marked as the time they 'fell' to Khorne. I'd argue they never fell... rather they didn't bother to notice they walked into Khorne's arms. Kol Saresk
And to add to Blackoption, Extinction(FW Book 3) states that some of the World Eater forces on Istvaan V who were helping hunt down the Raven guard, were also very Khornate-resembling monuments of skulls that the Raven Guard took to destroying. This would have been just before the Shadow Crusade. So really, any point in the Heresy is good. Paradigm
Book six has mid HH World Eaters colors as red replacing the blue, but the white is still there. Unit and honor markings have been left to chip or fade. Kill markings scraped into the armor are now the only identification they need.
