GrandMagnus
Looks really great! The red design on the inside of the cloak is a nice touch and the sword looks beautiful. I'm guessing the gold is painted the same way as on Magnus and the TS? Tzen
Ta man, and correct about the gold. Over all im pretty pleased how she has turned out. I went for a nice looking face and sword so that the key elements stand out. The rest of her isnt so great, but metal models drive me a bit insane!) Major_Gilbear
Details look nice (I like the Fleur de Lys) . :) If you decide to do a marble base, maybe choosing a cool white colour to do this in would help to balance the blue blade? Tzen
You read my mind Gilbear! Thats exactly the plan. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/331519-tzens-sisters-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-4672594 Share on other sites
Magos Kasen
Nice work, I agree a marble base would be ace. It's funny, I much prefer painting metal models to plastic or resin. Tzen
I love my edge highlights, and metal models tend to have rough or "sharp" edges which are a pain. Nothing wrong with them, just prefer plastic or resin! Hod
Really like how your Canonnesse is coming out. Looking forward to the finished product. Tzen
My Canoness is finished! I'm happy with her face, sword and the marble base. Rest of her is fine, would kill for some plastic models though! :D http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/sobfin.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/sobfin2.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/sobfin3.jpg Majkhel, RolandTHTG, Aasfresser and 12 others 15 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/331519-tzens-sisters-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-4673414 Share on other sites
Dorn Lysander
Beautiful job man, she's easily one of my all time favorite 40k models and you've certainly done her justice. The Traitor
She's one of the best painted sisters of battle I've seen in a long time, a shame that you don't intend to do a larger force of them! Tzen
I have a few bits of them. So a full squad, plus both of the special tanks and a penitent engine. I think my problem these days is that I really just paint for pleasure as opposed to necessity. Been a long time since I painted a model because I needed to get an army done. I just paint what I like. I am trying to get my Thousand Sons finished but the truth is that if I do them because I have to the quality suffers quite a bit. KrautScientist
That Canoness is looking absolutely astounding -- just perfect! I am so happy that you resisted the temptation to further mess around with her sword ;) Would love to see you tackle the John Blanche-inspired Canoness GW released in December -- please take your time, though, because I want to get my own copy painted before being utterly demoralised by seeing your take ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/331519-tzens-sisters-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-4673701 Share on other sites
Tzen
Thanks man! :D I am 100% sure your take on that Canoness will be awesome too! I was actually challenged to paint Canoness Viridyan recently by a friend. He wanted to have a mini competition between the two of us. I am sure I will paint her at some point but I am still in two minds about painting something special up for Golden Demon. I have been mulling around with the concept of a "Dreadcast Eternal". More specifically an undead Stormcast Eternal. I just can't get the image of it in my head to sit right. I am currently just sitting around waiting for inspiration to strike at the moment! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/331519-tzens-sisters-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-4673729 Share on other sites
KrautScientist
I was actually challenged to paint Canoness Viridyan recently by a friend. He wanted to have a mini competition between the two of us. Let's just say that I would hate to end up opposite you in any competition that involves painting, even if it's all in good fun ;) As for your undead Stormcast Eternal, you might want to take a look at Ana Polanscak's St. Anthimus here: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lVpaqOWWWn0/VqIREUkfXOI/AAAAAAAADAA/W6emMxVythQ/s1600/22012016002.jpg Maybe that will serve as inspiration? Tzen
That's looking pretty sick. However I am thinking more along the lines of Maltheal (??) from the diablo series mixed with Arthas. Interestingly enough, I don't paint competitively at all. I have only recent painted for a competition because I kind of had to. It did spur me on to maybe try for Golden Demon. However I know I am not really good enough for that. No false modesty at all there, I have seen Golden Demon winners. I am some way off that standard. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/331519-tzens-sisters-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-4673861 Share on other sites

Tzen
Thanks man! The white is celestra grey, ulthuan grey and then final highlight of white. Nothing too crazy, just lots of very thin layers! :) Sagentus 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/331519-tzens-sisters-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-4674666 Share on other sites
sockwithaticket
Superlative in every respect. The blade is lovely and I really like how convincing your fire is and the smoothness of it, you often see fire that's far too high contrast. RedFred
What kind of camera did you get? I just recently upgraded my iphone to an iphone 7 and I must admit, I'm getting some stunning results with my lightbox. Tzen
I got a Nikkon D3300. I have used an iphone 7 to take some pics, but I needed something a little bit more to get all of the details of a mini in. I found things are blurring on the edges as they went out of the depth of field.
