Ganders
So I've long wondered what happened to the rest of Garro's men that were on the Eisenstein. I've always liked the Garro background since the index astartes article way back when. I've never liked the audio book side of things so I assumed the answer would be in there but I've just finished reading the Garro book and apart from a brief mention and bit part by the medic it was never established what was happening to them long term. It seems odd that Garro would abandon his men to rot on Luna while he's off saving the galaxy. (There was a short story featuring Icaton Cruze (sp?) where he mentioned he is one of the only people to know the faces of the prison guards. As he was on the Eisenstein I wondered if this was a subtle hint.) Long story boring; where are they? Sandlemad
They're more or less left as prisoners on Luna and are understandably bitter about it. They're covered in the short stories Ghosts Speak Not and, to a lesser extent, Patience, both collected in The Silent War anthology. Two of them, Helig Gallor and Bajun Kyda, do odd jobs for Malcador alongside Amendera Kendel. Gallor become a Knights-Errant and eventually confronts Garro about how the Seventy were abandoned by him, in a sense. Ganders
That's excellent to know, thanks Sandlemad. I haven't bought the Silent War yet as I have most of the collected stories in other formats. Was waiting for the paperback. Who knew my answers were in there. Vel'Cona
Be a cool backstory for a Knights-Errant force made up entirely of loyalist Death Guard, though. Maybe a reformation of the Dusk Raiders so as to bear witness to their roots and separate themselves from the sins of the Death Guard? Actually, I had thought of this very idea for a HH army of my own, but I lack the will at the moment to pursue it . . . Those stories are still on the BL site as an ebook but given that it's five quid for the two, yeah, waiting for the paperback is a good idea. Hopefully we haven't seen the end of the 60-something who haven't appeared yet. The old IA thing about them eventually dying, forgotten, in an imperial dungeon is kind of poetic but I do hope they get a look in at the siege.
