Legio Custodes Weaknesses?

More ideas for you guys  to shoot down:

It is my understanding in the newer books phoenix terminators are now WS5 and I6 on the charge with the AP2/AP3 spear. When combined with the effect of sonic shriekers (-1WS in base to base) if enough of your models are in base to base contact, could you potentially lower the majority weapons skill of the Custodes to WS4 deny them the preternatural skill bonus and strike first?

Correction: Custodes are immune to fear, so sonic shriekers don't work.

Scoria's 'Rite of the Beast' explicitly affects all Cybernetica Cortex models in the unit. So it does affect all three Arlatax for example. Custodes still swing same time unless packing gauntlets due to 'Preternatural Skill', but that can't be helped unless you Concuss them somehow prior to charging. Also, Arlatax are going to have to win through causing wounds, because the claws can't Instant Death Custodians. Given than, I'd probably use the arc flail, as Concussive will mean you can swing first the second round of combat (assuming you survive the first).

I think Valdor comes out on top, just because he's faster each time and the ID wounds will turn off Scoria's FNP. I'm not sure how Hetaeron Guard can be dealt with reliably outside of Ordo Reductor (swap the normal Medusa Siege Battery for cheaper Demolishers) or a Knight FYI. They're just too tough to most Mechanicum weapons, and by the time you kill 1-2 they're in your face eating your army with paragon blades. Siege Wrecker Castellax still have to survive getting stabbed by guardian spears/paragon blades or being shot with adrathic/heliothermic weapons. Grav-Myrmidons are an option, but you'll need the Triaros to not die on the way in delivering them.

I've never seen people use the Relics, mainly due to salt about Moritats with nanyte blasters or the teleport backpack one. And yeah, the Arch-Dominus is the worst HQ for Mechanicum by a large margin, so its questionable even if your opponent is cool with it.

Valdor loses; he inflicts 1 unsaved wound while taking 3.2 in return.

5 grav myrmidons kill 3 in one volley

nanyte isnt a pistol so im not sure why moritats are especially a fearful combination

Other ideas: Not really a expert so someone can correct me, but if i recall Thousand Sons terminators can be upgraded to brotherhood of psykers ML1. Can they take a cult arcana? If so legion cataphractii terminators could take the raptora cult upgrade and gain a +3 invulnerable. Possibly good enough to survive to strike back with power axes or fists? I believe Sekhmet terminators could follow a similar strategy, as well as take force axes.

3++ Terminators are definetly good. And you can take cult arcana regardless all Legion Astartes tsons get it even without being psychers. The only risk with this strategy is custodes can still kill you first though you have a good chance of hurting them they probably still win combat then try to sweep you. Really the best strategy especially vs the elite of the cutodes is avoid combat toss s10 shooting at them or tarpit them in something fearless with tons of wounds such as tech thralls or rending militia.

Really? I suppose Scoria's better invul is what swings it, plus the D3 from the Void Sceptre is what makes him such a Primarch slayer. Surprising that Valdor still goes down on average.

Apparently people were using it as one. It's a minor point I suppose, like I said I basically never see people using relics.

Sehkmet are a better bet IMO. So long as you can get 'Force' going, take force axes (you'll go second anyway) and Instant Death them. Regular Terminators can still get the job done, but powerfists take longer. With squad force weapons, you're basically Grey Knights and even Hetaeron Guard will baulk at engaging.

Black shield chymerae termies with +1T +1S get S10 powerfists

Plus they swing at the same time as solarite power gauntlets, and if you're careful and get the charge on guardians you won't have to worry about ap2 at initiative.

Just don't charge Hetaeron Guard as paragon blades / spears will plaster you.

Even after all this discussion isn't the most mathematically sound way of killing custodes grav myrmidon destructors? Groups of 4 should wipe regular guardian squads with relative ease? Slightly less effective at maiming hetaerons or sentinels but still relatively effective.

They take T and armour out of the equation, so yeah, probably the best by far.

I think the best way is a Knight Castigator. S10, I2 an attack for every model in combat(They have already pilled in mixed units), all strong enough to instant death, with deflagrate and still you get stomps afterwards.

Works well vs squads that don't have a tribune or shields. The -1 to hit and increased saves do alot to decrease it's damage. You'd also want to avoid any squad with Valdor as he will kill any knight.
