Invicta Aprum/Indomitable Boars - WIP Homebrew

Alright everyone, my homebrew chapter is going to be a solid year old in a few months so I'm taking the time to reinvent them and their sector entirely. The idea is depicting the reality of 40K, that there is no honor or glory among the stars, only war.

This chapter and those Imperial factions that accompany them (Knight House, Guardsmen, and Sororitas) have essentially been abandoned by the wider Imperium. In the 41st Millennium the forces required to allow any respite simply isn't available. It's because of this that the Chapter has deviated extensively from the Codex Astarte's in the name of survival.

Be advised that I'm still editing, adding, and trying to code things properly. Some information may contradict other things but overall the idea is a pious chapter who's faith in Emperor keeps them afloat even though the know how it ends... How their chapters crumbles and those they desperately protect fall prey to insanity.

Fame: Of all the thousands of chapters in the Imperium, Indomitable Boars are the few more unknown ones. However, those who know do not identify them by color but size.
Hierarchy: Each company is represented by a single Marine known as Tusk Bearer. 10th Company, the Scouts are represented by another title, Serpent Seer.
Battle Cry: A deep, bestial roar imitated from their helmets.
Successor/Gene-Seed: Black Templars

Chapter History

Marines who would later be known as Invicta Aprum (Indomitable Boars) came from questionable background. Mechanicus originally visited the moon, one of twenty orbiting the gargantuan planet of Arbitrous, to investigate ancient human ruins dating back to the Dark Age of Technology. Order Sabine, who spear headed the Edith Expansion alongside Arbitrous Volmazda, sent a mission branch from the Order Argent Shroud. Smaller Orders followed beside a small group of Biologis and Black Templar Astarte's.
Tales told that giants stalked the land battling great beasts throughout this frozen wasteland. Explorers from Volmazda's fleet reported huge silhouette's roaring over hallowing winds while beast roared in turn. Simply stories embellished by would-be adventurers seeking any semblance of attention-- how wrong they were. Astarte's, monolithic beings themselves, admit their surprise openly when they first discovered these giants. While taller than your average human, typically around seven feet on average, Sororitas saw them as mutants. How could man achieve such physical prowess without physical augmentation? Biologis assured them there was genetic altering of any kind, however, this didn't quell suspicion.
Order Eminent Truth took it upon themselves to sift through various traditions while integrating them into the Imperium, as well. Black Templar Astarte's saw their potential as future Astarte's. Eminent Truth translator helped him convince a large tribe that they were sent by their 'revered' Servants. However, he could not linger forever as duty called beyond their world. He left shortly after inviting a young Jotuun Walker, known as Belaruu, who portrayed the role of prophet to other tribes. She spoke of angelic maidens who vanquished the unspoken predators, floating cities riding skin sheering winds; fantastical tales only a superstitious barbarian could believe.
As the Sororitas sailed this mislead prophet through storms she brought more and more tribes together into one great community. Mechanicus, who fumbled with ancient weather manipulating technology, created a great clearing where storms dare not tread. Here, tens of thousands came together, the last humans on Arbitrous, listened to Belaruu's words. She spoke to all using strange contraptions that carried her voice for miles. Who could dare denounce this unexplained phenomenon, for they were primitive humans unable to comprehend the technological wonders before their very eyes.

(( Still editing but wouldn't mind some idea's where to go from current Chapter history. ))

  Religious Debacle

Despite rigorous attempts to enlighten the people of Arbitrous IV, they refuse to set aside their own pantheon of 'gods'. This could be considered rectified after Order Eminent Truth diluted this pantheon and revealed they were mere servants to the Emperor. To explain further, Jotuun Walkers, shamans who are also psykers are well aware of the warp and the atrocities that lie within. The idea that after death their spirits simply diminish within such a terrible dimension is, for lack of better words, ridiculous. Life cannot end there, thus, they discovered the Servants. These beings are statues from an ancient Imperial society long forgotten to the frozen wastes. Jotuun Walkers pass a certain string of statues on their pilgrimage to become Walkers. Over decades, maybe centuries stories became more and more diluted until it became a genuine belief these statues depicted protective gods; it goes beyond the material realm to suggest these figures protect and guide whomever dies into the Emperor's embrace.
The Order Non-Militant, Eminent Truth diluted this belief to the ignorant natives in order to bring them into the Imperial Fold. The Indomitable Boars, who eventually learned about what the Order did outright refused such blatant disregard for their culture. Their beloved Servants, who by no means were gods, ensured they would find salvation in the Emperor's light after death. To say otherwise was tantamount to heresy. Of course, believing in others beyond the God-Emperor was questionably heretical which eventually lead to the current Chaplains within their ranks.

Though it isn't questioned to the extent it was during their founding, off-world Chaplains continue to represent the mistrust Sororitas have for the Boars. Relations between them have diminished greatly but each still respect the history each shares with one another through subtle means. An example is the professionalism when either works along side the other. They purposely re-frame themselves from expressing personal opinion or individuality to avoid further animosity clearly present.

M41.836 - 886 Edith Sector in Ashes

Word Bearers, Iron Warriors, Dark Mechanicus, Dark Eldar, and Human Renegades have spiraled the some two-hundred worlds of Edith sector into a cataclysmic warzone without end.

The Indomitable Boars, have been fighting on these various war worlds for several centuries. Of the three Astarte's Chapters, they are all that remain. They've witnessed a fleet based chapter be reduced into a smouldering ruin while another Astarte's homeworld quite literately was virus bombed by Iron Warriors. A fledgling Dark Eldar Kabal, The Caustic Caress, portray the carrion flock who shackles those unfortunate to find themselves stranded or surviving a major battle. A collection of Dark Mechanicus have risen, stating the Omnissiah has abandoned them. They've grown exhausted of the Machine Spirits, seeing their worship as irrelevent and begun entombing vat-grown or captured humans into machines. Their forces consist of servitors, slaves, skitarii, and Guardsmen grade tanks with entombed servitors/humans driving.

After the Warp Storm consumed the sector for half a century, where the fighting became fiercest, the damage had been done. Without the light of the Astronomicon to reinforce their faith, many fell into heresy. Word Bearers capitalize on the absence of faith, delivering whole worlds into the Pantheon's embrace.

From the very beginning The Boars and their brother chapters were outmanned and significantly outgunned. The Prasapus Knights, the fleet based Chapter fell in a three day spanning void battle against Iron Warrior fleet, Word Bearer Daemon Ships, and Traitor Suicide runs. Night Lords attempted covert operations against the Ursing Maulers, another chapter, and found themselves in quite the grind. Iron Warriors begrudgingly aided them but they weren't called the Maulers for nothing. The fighting eventually escalated to a point that the Iron Warriors initiated a mass retreat leaving behind virus bombs... Thus, only the Boars remained.

The Boars themselves fought a holy crusade alongside Sororitas and Guardsmen against the myriad threats yet couldn't muster the forces to aid their brothers. Because the Warp Storms disabled long-term warp travel two entire Chapters disappeared within a few years. Distorted Astropathic messages made the chapters fates clear months after when they finally translated into their last locations. Five Boar companies saw the remains of The Prasapus Knights, Astarte's bodies lingering frozen in the void of space. Other companies fell to their knee's once they set eyes upon the irradiated wasteland that was the Maulers Homeworld.

Nightmares soon followed, where initiates undergoing their final implantation would see how it ends, how The Indomitable Boars crumble beneath the weight of Chaos.

Religious Beliefs and Traditions
The Servants: More present than anything are their questionably heretical worship of the Servants. Scattered through Arbitrous IV are statues glorifying men and women who once ruled over the planet. Outside now frozen Hive Cities, a statue stands as the gate way into the ancient metropolis. Jotuun Boars follow a certain path often enough passing many statues on this path. Aspiring Jotuun Walkers, essentially shamans and spiritual guides to their communities, will ride the Boars on their pilgrimage to become recognized Jotuun Walkers. Stories will spread from one tribe to another, even banding tribes where pious Walkers will glorify the statue, saying the Boars intentionally follow these statues because they protect from those within the storm.
Over years one story from another grew more and more elaborate until every native began to represent them as deities. Of course this was circumvented by the Order Eminent Truth but not entirely. Many, if not all still firmly believe after death their soul is guided by the Servants themselves into the Emperor's light. Even in death they'll serve him for all eternity and live forever in bliss. Various issues stem from this belief when outsiders view it but none can admittedly question their loyalty. The God-Emperor ensures an eternity of unquestionable serenity in exchange for undying loyalty, an exchange they're all too happy to indulge. And to further elaborate, chaos or any form of outside religious doctrine introduced to them was quickly swept away. They are loyal and that's what it comes down to.

The Tusk Bearer: Originally Tusk Bearers were appointed champions of their tribe who would fend off the predators inside the storms. They were esteemed warriors who's past triumphs shadow all others. Stories depict Tusk Bearers as gallant champions without par, who would wrestle daemons into submission, slay giant serpents beneath the ice, and pull the jaw from a lunging Trasken Hound. Tribes would default any debate to their esteemed Tusk Bearer. It is because of their legendary status in all tribes that Company Captains are known as Tusk Bearers instead of Captain's.
To become this prestigious figure the entire company must elect one individual who they deem worthy to lead them. After an elected member is chosen, this Astarte's is stripped of their armor and armaments. Stark naked, they must tackle the unforgiving wilderness of their homeworld and travel the Eight Great Storms. A lengthy process that usually takes several months to accomplish and possibly endangers their gene-seed but those chosen have yet to fail.

Chapter Master's delicate Chapter matters in assemblies consisting of present Tusk Bearers, essentially forming an inner democracy that decides their course of actions. The Chapter Master himself could easily overrule their decisions and advice but past tribal traditions must be upheld. Of course, this eventually leads to slight stagnation when deploying entire companies as multiple Tusk Bearers must be consulted before dedicating such numbers.

Home World
Arbitrous IV (Frozen World), home to Indomitable Boars populace and recruits. On this world sits a frozen metropolis of dilapidated cities caught in a perpetual ice age without end. Hive cities from an age yet to be discerned have become tainted lands. Natives say horrors rest inside those colossal tombs. Creatures of innumerable variety adapted in unique ways after the ice age began, as did humans. Mythical serpents slink beneath thin ice patches. Their scales flutter open during great expanses to gather what little nutrients the sea under the ice can offer. Legends tell of serpents growing fat and bulbous from head to tip. These creatures will erupt from the ice and surprise unsuspecting natives. Stories begin circulating about unique humans slaying these enormous creatures.

The most prominent creature are the Jotuun Boars, gargantuan beasts coated in vast glacial constructs. They travel the surface of Arbitrous IV unimpeded by any and all inhabitants. Jotuun Boars will travel through entire hive city sectors with enormous frost formations tumbling in their wake. Jotuun Walkers, psykers who communicate with them through undisclosed means discover loyalty through empathy. What commences once the aspiring Walker climbs atop the beast and travels the eight whirling storms is a secret never revealed. Interestingly when the Jotuun Boar arrives after traveling the Eight Great Storms with the Boar, it's always larger. Imperial Scribes theorize the storms and what lies within attributes to their size and longevity.

Gelu Inanis - Fortress Monastery Overview

Icy Void, commonly known as Gelu Inanis, is the Fortress Monastery and beating heart of Arbitrous IV. Where the entire planet is plunged in destructive storms, dilapidated frost ridden hive cities, insidious predatory creatures above and below; Gelu Inanis is their salvation. Millennia ago ancient humans tamed weather patterns over a central area using technology Adaptus Mechanicus still strive to fathom. The intricacy involved goes beyond their scope of understanding. Adapts have made minuscule strides through properly orchestrating the weather patterns to purposely avoid the future fortress monastery of the Indomitable Boars.
Above, a mass collection of tribes gather together in the thousands after their respective Jotuun Walkers guided them towards the small structure housing the elevator leading into Gelu Inanis. Strong primitive warriors wearing glacial fur coats involuntarily guard the sacred grounds. Jotuun Boars frequently pass, narrowly missing the one of three elevators leading into the monastery. Centered in this forty kilometer distance between elevators, where glacial peaks rise and fall, Trasken Wolves crying into the night, an immense dock bay careens open. The land tremors in anticipation as the Indomitable Boars magnificent Battle Barge, Glacialis Dynastia looms through fearsome hail storms ravaging the board of Gelu Inanis.

Precisely ten kilometers beneath the glacial sheet tightly wrapped around Arbitrous lies another world entirely. Ancient humans constructed an intricate labyrinth of tightly knitted corridors intertwining into vast halls where more former governor statue's stood in Romanesque posture and design. Foreign Serfs bustle within this realm, each assigned their own task. Men dressed in iron emerge from the forges crafted around an underground volcano constantly leaking molten rock. A few floors above artificers channel the collective heat into thermo reactors powering all of Inanis. Huge orbital batteries still dormant can syphon vast amounts of thermal energy into radiant beams theorized to stifle any battle ship.
Further up, from the depths of the volcanic forges and thermo reactor den men and women grunt and bark at one another. Combat is essential for all Serfs thus, we introduce the caste system. Natives to Arbitrous are established warriors said to be trained by the Boars themselves. A select amount oversee all training Serfs undertake to ensure Inanis remains untouched. Las fire whisks through target corridors and men wrestle others into submission to prove their own physical and martial merit. This priviledge is only permitted to base serfs, those who scrub decks, polish statues, menial tasks their superior serfs dare not entertain.
In distant lands monitor serfs with a third eye implants into their left temple race through exotic jungles, dash into ravines from ravenous predators, all collecting valuable information ordinators reroute back to Inanis. Again, more natives from Arbitrous given specific physical roles to further attest their implied superior athleticism. Artificers relay information to Scribellum who meticulously documented every exploit of Monitors and Boars alike in exhausting detail.

Trasken Companion, a venerated title signifying status among Serfs, Trasken's where the glacial pelt of the mighty wolves skulking their land. Warriors and companions to a single boar, they are personally selected from the tribes and trained in vast groups to accompany a boar. They are representations of their heritage to remind all Boars of their faith in both the God-Emperor. Another role beside religious practice is maintaining the armor and weaponry alongside their serving Boar. Not only does this remind the Astarte's of their heritage but ensures they never truly disconnect from Arbitrous.

(( More to be added later ))

Physical Traits (Without Gene-Seed)
Death Worlds are infamous for producing hardened, burly warriors; examples being Fenris and Catachan. That said, larger specimens were found on Arbitrous. The average man is between six foot-seven inches to nearly seven foot-four inches - females following closely behind. Natives musculature is astounding, to say the least. Speculations surround such oddities and often related in folk lore - Tusk Bearers wrestling creatures in storms, monstrous serpents brought down with a single spear, and other incredible feats natural to them. Though not concluded its reasoned natives willingly fought against impossible foes for thousands of years to establish survival and a place on the food chain.
Eight Great Storms virtually cover one forth of the planet. Humans will eventually be forced to tackle these immense storms twisting and churning in constant influxes impossible to follow. Predators, whom natives dare not name, lurk menacingly inside these storms. During this time, Boars icy teal skin will develop unique frost build up characterized as crystals along their epidermis. Serpentine cloaks and furs encrusted in frost make them virtually invisible inside these storms. Predators whom lurk inside will sometimes forgo their existence thinking they're natural wild-life for they only eat human.

Physical Traits (With Gene-Seed)
Noticeable Traits: Though not as large as Black Dragons, Boars come rather close usually between eight and a half to nine feet tall. However, this doesn't mean they're exceptionally stronger. Certain members have equally reactive Biscopea that will, in turn, make them exceptionally muscular. Others will have this trait and be no stronger than your average marine.

The Twin Peak Phenomenon (Ossmudula and Biscopea): After the death of Tusk Bearers Avalonzo (Avalanche) and his brother Bazmardo, two Astartes within the Boars will inherit overactive implants. Each iteration documenting this happening has transpired between two brothers which eventually leads them to become giants. Since their deaths, those whom inherit this trait are estimated to be ten to eleven feet tall and exceptionally more muscular than other Astarte's.

The Inherited Fate: During the final implantation an initiate will dream a nightmare where he is depicted as the lone survivor of his chapter in its final moments. He will stand in a field where humanity has fallen into madness and bare witness to the inevitable end that awaits them.

The Nightmare depicted

Their demise will be wrought upon them beneath a emblazoned sky where their Battle Barge, Glacialis Dynastia hurdles from the heavens. One will stand drenched in gore, his tusked helm shattered to a point his bare skull shows and the helms tusks shattered. Before him lies a field of corpses and madmen, where all forms of humanity claw and rend the flesh from each others bodies with terrifying glee. He, the last boar will stand untouched by their madness, invisible to their barbarous intent as he watches the Dynastia plummet, crawling from the skies to meet its ignoble demise. His vox communicator crackles with the faint cries of his brothers distorted by static. He cannot tell which fate they face but listens to the fear in their terrified cries. Some swear in defiance while others are taken in and cradled by madness. Their terror a mixture of fear and laughter soon becoming drowned gurgles as blood fills their mouths.

This last boars falls to his knee's and blink clicks his vox to silence. He does not comprehend the grotesque butchery transpiring around him but watches Dynastia finally meet its end. He is the last, the lone survivor who pays witness to his chapters final moments. His scorched bleeding eye closes admitting his own fear to the reality he faces. Part of him wants to pray, invoke the prayers his deceased Sororitas Sisters taught their fledgling chapter yet cannot muster a syllable.... There is no point, there is no hope.

A nightmare all Boars have shared after their final implantation. They step into the body of the battle worn Astarte's and see into a future destined for their chapter. Some will dispute the nightmares significance yet most eventually accept it as their inevitable fate; the Chapters fate. What keeps them from spiraling into an all consuming melancholy is their faith, that they alone will endure those final moments so long as The Emperor Protects.

Immaterial Connection: Presumably connected to their failures to save Edith Sector, a developing psychological, possibly psychic, connection to the warp has become ever more frequent among Librarians. During Warp Translations Librarians attest to hearing the feint sounds of bolter fire, long dead Astarte's shouting orders, and venomous laughter hidden behind the whispering chaos. The spirits of their former brothers cry out even in death, reliving their final moments again and again. Those who listen must do so in silence, in prayer least they stoke the embers of madness crackling in the hearts of every Boar.

The Madness: Astarte's have been known to caste aside their humanity in order to protect those who otherwise embrace theirs. They know not of fear, anger, sorrow; emotions that burden others. The Boars, however, are not as fortunate as other Chapters. Since discovering the fate of both the Ursing Maulers and Prasapus Knights, they've witnessed their own end, the chapters end. Since this nightmare has haunted the newly inducted Boars they must struggle against their own surfacing humanity.
Naturally stoic individuals will succumb to fits of blind rage in the heat of combat. Primal sense clutch them, sharpening in response. The beating heart of those they confront, their treacherous scent- a consuming desire for gore. Quite similar to the Red Rage, it's not quite accurate. This ensuing Madness is mixture of fear, anger, and sorrow. Mourning their brother chapters fate, reflecting on their destined fate, furious by how far they've fallen from grace; the Madness only takes hold prior to a Boars death. As if fate itself has decided when and where they fall, when the Madness takes hold their fate has been sealed.

Unique Astarte's/Astarte's Training
One might noticed Boars have definitive crows feet beside their eyes or other noticeable aging features. Unlike other Space Marine Chapters, Boars training extends into their late twenty to early thirties. Even after all implants have been implanted, some will remain Scouts. This extensive training stems from their ill-equipped Chapter. The rely heavily on practiced cohesion, working in squads and never as individuals. Take for example the novel Brothers of the Snake where one Astarte's was sent to dispatch and Dark Eldar menace; Boars would never do this. Any dispatch is done in trio's, at the very least. Between training, lack of resources, and constant skirmishes with xeno threats outside Eidious they simply cannot risk any amount of hubris. Even if a single Astarte's is capable of eliminating a threat, two more will join said Astarte's to ensure they'll return home.

Prasapus Marines/Assault Marines - (( Being revised. ))

Storm Bringer/Standard Bearer - Where other Chapter's draw strength from the banner raised proud over conquered foes; Boars find there's from the bellowing horn detailing their coming charge. Storm Bringers must hunt and kill the great Prasapus Beast inside its glacial den and craft the horn with their own hands. It'll normally take two painstaking weeks for the honored Storm Bringer to widdle and craft each and every tribal symbol around the horn to properly ornate this prestigious tool while also filing out the interior as the ancestors before him did. A Boar's designated Trasken Companion reads scripture from both Imperial Cult and their own tribal heritage for twelve consecutive hours, each day, to inspire the Boar toiling over his Storm Bringer Horn.

Codex Deviation

Codex compliant isn't a phrase used to describe this Chapter. Since seeing the aftermath of both Prasapus Knights and Ursing Mauler Chapters, the Boars have maintained a consistant flow of recruitment into their ranks. Because the aspirant rate on their homeworld of Arbitrous IV is exceptionally high, they've attempted to exceed the one thousand Astarte's capital. Thousands, if not tens of thousands of traitors lurk in Edith Sector, thus, struggle to balance the scales. Administorum presents briefly protested the idea but after the Dark Mechanicus revealed themselves, turning worlds into manufacturing hell scapes, have since ceased protests.
Ecclesiarch Cardinal of Valjohtun didn't protest but applauded their reasoning, even supporting them. The Sororitas stationed on the Cardinal World remain apprehensive, however. Given their intertwined history with the Boars, who an Order Non-Militant help cultivate, wouldn't oppose their decision but remain agnostic.

As a whole, every Imperial institution understands the divergence from the Codex once they discovered the fate that befell their former brother Chapters. What remained of the now disassembled Mechanicus began working towards the Astarte's goal. A forge on Volstraten, where the Boars Homeworld/Moon orbits, has been established solely to resupply them. Though they cannot provide significant vehicles support besides modified Guardsmen vehicles, they provide quality power armor and munitions for squads.

Companies have diverted as well, similar to that of the Iron Hands. Ruled by a designated Tusk Bearer/Company Leader; all recruitment done is done on a company level. Each company is responsible for training and recruiting their initiates. This recruitment method began to develop because Boar Squads remained wide spread while only a skeleton crew of company commanders remained on their homeworld. Thus, they'll recruit aspirants from the tribes they themselves descended from in preparation for the casualty reports inbound. At times this appears necessary but considering the Sectors state of affairs, it's assumed when squads are deployed only half return.

Equipment History
For Space Marine Standards, Boars are relatively ill-equipped and often depend on outside elements for armored support. They've adapted to their lack of equipment through extensive training, formations, and utilizing specialists Astarte's equipment into normal roles. Besides their battle barge and several transport fliers, Boars rely predominantly on various scavenged drop pods for deployment. They have above average psykers, devastator squads, and assaults to help compensate for large scale battles. This is influx in devastator and assault squads is due in part to prolonged training required before being initiated into tactical marine squads.

Zero Terminator Armor: Given that Eidious system is considerably distant from any Forge World or Astarte's Forge Temple, the Boars do not own or maintain any terminator. However, their already abnormal size and stature partially compensates for this. They stand a full eight inches, sometimes an entire foot over other Astarte's. Size aside, this does not mean an armored Boar can fend off the might of a Terminator armored Marine.

Sororitas Ties:Technically speaking, Order Sabine played a crucial role in Arbitrous IV's history sighting the populace's future potential to become adequate Astarte's candidate's. Mechanicus discoveries aside, primarily the weather devices and archaic Hive Cities, the Sororitas had their own plans in mind. Order Dialogous, Eminent Truth accompanied by other minor Orders took it upon themselves to graciously educate feral natives in basic Imperial Doctrine while twisting their current beliefs into the Imperial Cult's. This would lead to rich history between the Indomitable Boars and later known Order Militant, Radiant Bliss.
Before relations withered over a collection of disagreements, one infamous moment regarding the Chapter's current Chaplains, Boars still utilize certain Sororitas tools in their arsenal. Regardless of past discrepancies, they continue to honor the Sororitas in battle. Normal Marines usually set aside their chainswords for Repentia Eviscerators, Tusk Bearers wear Rosarius fused into their ornate aquilla chest piece; just a few examples.

Both sections will be separated to help further extinguish battle gear from ordinary Space Marine tools and Sororitas implemented tools.

Sororitas Equipment

Rosarius - When the Chapter was first founded, the Radiant Bliss became a fully fledged Order Militant several years prior being a direct branch from Our Martyred Lady. Theodora Mosshire, who lead the order, gifted the Boars with ten Rosarius pendants to signify the bound each organization held for one another. To this day, only seven Rosarius pendants remained carried by the Tusk Bearers of First, Second, Third, Forth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Tusk Bearers. The other were lost during the Burning Garden Tragedy.

Litanies of Faith - Inside Gelu Inanis, a single Sororitas sister from Eminent Truth scribbles day after day different litanies for every Boar to wear into battle. This sister will gladly repair any litanies damaged during their missions and often enough aided by individual Boars Trasken Companion.

Sororitas Weaponry

Sarissa - Prasapus Marines mount Sarissa chainblades underneath their weapon barrels to counter-act melee centric opponents who clash against their shields. Sister Serraliine Mosshire introduced this weapon to Prasapus Marines several decades after their founding.

Eviscerator - Boars are renowned for their sheer size, as such, have virtually abandoned the generic Chainsword to wield these mighty blades. With their strength it's said a single swing can rend Terminator armor, if given the right circumstances. However, this brute force required for these blades leaves intricate sword play to be desired as no Boar are exceptional swordsmen. Regardless, few foes often regret that well placed parry while the giant blade shreds their sword and armor.

Astarte's Equipment - ( This list specifies certain power armor variants used within the Indomitable Boars since many Chapters have access to most, if not all Space Marine Equipment )

Maximus Pattern Jump Pack - Prasapus Marines intentionally used these Jet Packs to enhance their forward charges while reducing mobility. A short but significant burst from the single rocket helps emphasize the purpose they have on the battlefield and boarding actions.

Purity Seal - Sororitas Sister who writes the Boars litanies ensures every individual Marine is issued their own purity seal. A continued tradition carried out between the two factions to ensure their past bounds never truly fade.

Power Armor ( Slight Customization ) - Slight modifications to the helmet were made to help embrace their boar orientated Chapter. Small tusks are aesthetically applied on each side of the representing mouth piece to further identify them as Boars. Aside from that, they use standard Mark VI Aquila armor. Prasapus Marines have reinforced helmets and collars fitted around their neck and upper chest piece, similar to errant but still maintaining Mark VI design

Prasapus Boarding Shield - Unlike Legion era shields, Prasapus Boarding Shields are lumbering rectangular walls except for mimicking top design as shown with the Iron Hands boarding shield. A large spike is added onto the shields base while the squad commander has two spikes resembling boar tusks. Made entirely of adamantium, these spikes can penetrate the thickest armor but are quite heavy, thus, relying heavily on Jump Packs. Otherwise, Marines can only shuffle about and their ability to run hampered greatly.

Astarte's Weapons - ( This list specifies certain unique weapons used within the Indomitable Boars since many Chapters have access to most, if not all basic Astarte's weapons )

Flamer and Melta (Sarissa Attachment) - Prasapus Marines primarily use melta guns with a select few supporting flamers. Their guns each have Sarissa blade mounts beneath the barrels for close-quarters engagements when flamers simply won't suffice.

Godwyn Pattern Bolter (Standard Drum) - Boars sacrifice reliability for sheer brute force making the Drum Magazine almost entirely standard. Of course they can choose another magazine but it's universally favored among all Boars to equip drums.

I'm attempting to revamp this chapter into something completely different, a chapter that's succumbing to physical and psychological mutations. The chapter itself holds no aspirations for honor or glory and maintain a subtle pious demeanor, as scene through elaborate prayer ceremonies and closely knitted ties with the Ecclesiarchy. It's their strict adherence to the faith that keeps the chapter together, keeps them fighting, surviving whilst the Sector around them splinters into fragmented empires.

Right now I'm looking for idea's for manifesting mutations developing within the chapter, guerilla warfare tactics, religious worship in spite of their mutations, and how the Imperial Forces might perceive them.

Any help and brain storm in appreciated and I hope to read from everyone later on. You chaps have a fine day!

After reading through, they seem to have a very "doomed from the start" feel. Is that what you are going for?

As for mutations, why not build on the "larger than average" concept. One marine might have a massive arm (like that found of the chaos mutation frame)? Or maybe there is a high amount of bionic limbs as they remove mutated parts? But due to their poor equipment, such bionics are crude by astartes standards? Maybe using ork parts when modelling them.

You've got a fairly large index astartes to start with. Where do you want specific help with first?

That's actually not a bad idea. Maybe they could have overactive implants. For instance, some might development a particular palette for blood while others might develop larger limbs, like you said. Another side affect could be overdeveloped bone structures, like actual bare knuckles breaching the epidermis or highly corrosive spittle.

Crude cybernetics does sound like a pretty nifty idea. Their only real means to actual mechanicus aid is through a collection of Forges scattered throughout what territory they maintain. I was actually thinking that later on, down the line, they become desperate enough to utilize the Obliterator virus. Those initiates who reject the implants or fail halfway through are subjected to it. A nice expression of the effects of war, how seemingly immortal Astarte's are no more vulnerable than humans, resorting to inhumane options in order to win, to survive.

But as a whole, history is something I wouldn't mind getting a fair bit of help with. While I am keep a good chunk depicting their cultures founding and sororitas ties, I'm wondering how I could tie in the other two chapter; The Prasapus Knights and Ursing Maulers, a trio of Chapters. It's because the Edith Sector was so wealthy in mineral that three were founded. They were to safe guard it so the Sector would grow into virtual garden of Eden... But we know how that ends.

Otherwise, the timeline is another thing I'm having difficulty with. I want to make the Boars zealous, self-righteous bastards until they're eventually humbled. Up until the other Chapters are destroyed, that's essentially what they are. I'm thinking it would take a major, and I'm talking ridiculously traumatic event to cause an entire Chapter to do away with the Codex Astarte's- and there lies another problem, going about that.

So all in all, a liable excuse for three chapters to be founded, what exactly an entire Sector might hold that was so valuable, and savage time-line depicting the Boars many atrocities and the grueling war they're currently in.

A biiiiiiit much but hey, 40K is grimdark and I personally think stepping away from oh-so glorious and heroic Space Marine Chapters is a step in the right direction.

3 whole Chapters whose sole job is to protect a sector rich in minerals seems like overkill, especially with the sororitas presence. But if there was say something hidden that only the Chapter Masters know about, something corrupt and powerful. Something that whispered to the Boars, made suggestions, slowly robbing them of their righteousness.

Maybe the other two chapters fell quickly and the Boars are tasked with dealing with them. By the time the Boars are finished they are a dark parody of noble Astartes

As I'm writing the history I was playing with the idea that the Boar home world is tainted, the veil between reality and warp thinner there. Maybe that warrants their Chapter there and two others. Honestly, who in the Imperium would even entertain the idea that three Chapters could be defeated?

That said, it'll shatter during the Sector's eventual downfall. What I'm thinking is all four gods, for the briefest of moments, glance through the Eye of Terror and into the Sector. Since the veil is thinner there, the world itself implodes and erupts into a Mini Eye, about the size of the planet.

What drew the gods attention are listed
Khorne: An abundance of war
Slaanesh: The aristocratic Volmazda families debauchery turning their world into a daemon world.
Tzeentch (Spelling?): Priests and Cardinals prophesizing conflicting futures that spiral into various religious interpretations, each eventually devolving into devious cults.
Nurgle: A mutagen plague corrupts an entire Fortress World/Astarte's Home World which eventually consumes the Chapter and populace.

All that non-sense going down, Chaos Gods spill their collective power through the Boar home world that creates the tear in reality. A show of favor from each individual that now threatens to envelop the entire Sector.

Working off your idea, what's your thought on that?
