2.5k Blood Angels - New Player need advice

Hello, im looking to start a heresy army but im somewhat new.
Iv watched plenty of battle reports and played around with battlescribe.

Heres what im looking to have in the army:
Plenty of tactical marines - whenever I play space marines, i make sure to include space marines
Two Leviathans - i call them the grusome twosome - the model looks great!
NO resin mkIV marines - no skinny leg syndrome please, so no assault marines, quad launchers, ect at least untili FW figures out a way to include plastic marines.
No Day of Revelation - again, until we get unskinny assault marines, not doing it.

Heres what I came up with.

Blood Angels pride of the legion

Catapractii Praetor with Blade of Perdition and digital lasers
with 10 Catapractii terminators, five chainfists
Damocles Command Rhino

10 vet squad with marksmen, artificer armor, one heavy flamer, melta bombs, rhino
10 vet squad with marksmen, artificer armor, one heavy flamer, melta bombs, rhino
10 vet squad with marksmen, artificer armor, one heavy flamer, melta bombs, rhino
10 support squad, artificer armor, flamers, dreadclaw---------------------------Or i could take 7 Heavy Support with heavy flamers instead

Leviathan with armored ceramite, drill and melta lance, dreadnaught drop pod
Leviathan with armored ceramite, drill and melta lance, dreadnaught drop pod

-The idea being the Leviathans come in turn one, hold down the enemy while the vets hit flanks.
-The Terminators teleport in using the Damocles ability to have them not scatter and the -1 to reserve rolls, which can also be used for the dreaclaw and vets in rhinos.
-When the dreaclaw comes in, the flamers torch any infantry that I need to make go away.
-The vets have melta bombs because everyone here plays them with the old FW rules and not GWs bomb rule.
-Finally, what works really well for this list is that when we eventually get plastic assault marines, this would be a great start to a Day of Revelation list. At that point all I would need are two assault squads and a jump pack praetor.
I would have the Damocles to prevent scattering, I would have the dreadclaw as my required fast attack choice, and I would also have the two leviathans to support the assault squads on turn one, not to mention whoever Sanguinius brings with him.

Blood Angels terminators can't DS until you took Orbital Assault.

What Veteran Tactics are your Vet squads using ?

You don't have nearly enough anti-tank capability in that list.

Perhaps you should take a look at the different RoW again, and maybe configure your list for Orbital Assault if you want to go Pod-heavy, or maybe adjust your list of you really want PotL.

Man do i have egg on my face.

Ok, so solutions, heres the modified army;

-Catapractii Praetor with Blade of Perdition

with 4 Catapractii Bodyguard terminators, 3 chainfists

Dreadclaw

-10 vet squad with marksmen, artificer armor, one heavy flamer, melta bombs, rhino

-10 vet squad with marksmen, artificer armor, one heavy flamer, melta bombs, rhino

-Leviathan with armored ceramite, drill and melta lance, dreadnaught drop pod

-Leviathan with armored ceramite, drill and melta lance, dreadnaught drop pod

-Plus one more tank killing unit.

Basically I have about 250 points free to add one more tank killing unit.

What should I get?

Deredeo?

Fire Raptor?

Sicaran Venator?

I'd recommend a venator.

Also, you can just use BoP/BaC plastic marnies to make assault marines. The FW power weapon kits have all the right weapons & arms, plus you can get decent jump packs from 3rd party companies. Maxmini do some nice ones (MKII & MKIII) and spellcrow have some in the MKIV style.

If you're waiting for plastic assault marines you might be waiting a while

The list feels a bit "spammy" with those 4 identical veteran units, I would suggest mixing it up a bit to give your army a bit more variety and flexibility, it'll also make the army more fun to play.

Your army, your wallet, but imo it's a bit boring and copy-paste - too much like a 40k list. This is 30k, take things because they are cool and the rest will sort itself out.

Ok, what about this one then?

Catapractii Praetor with Blade of Perdition with 10 Catapractii terminators with five chainfists
Spartan with flare shield and armored ceramite

Apothecary with artificer armor -with the 20 man tac squad

20 man tactical squad with sgt melta bomb and artificer armor, vexilla, extra CCW
10 man tactical squad with sgt melta bomb and artificer armor, rhino
10 man tactical support squad with sgt melta bomb and artificer armor, volkite chargers, extra CCW rhino

Leviathan with armored ceramite, drill and melta lance, dreadnaught drop pod
Sicaran Venator
Sicaran Venator - or a Deredeo.

Aye, would enjoy seeing something like that across the table.

There is a lack of anti-air though - shouldn't be an issue most of the time but you may rue it should you come up against it - something like a contemptor mortis with duel kheres or the deredeo (must admit not familiar with their rules and whether they have AA) would at least give you something that could affect a flyer.

Maybe a lack of something quick and tankbusty - from reserves or deepstrike, something like a javelin or an outflanking unit could help strip wounds/hp from a valuable target/put pressure on. Your army isn't slow, but does lack a truly fast unit.

What are the rest of your termies armed with and what's their role? You've invested a lot of points into them, if you are taking 10 it might be worth giving them an apothecary or a chaplain for fnp/zealot (the latter potentially massive due to rerolls and that you can break from combat and be run-down in 30k, which zealot goes a long way in preventing), especially if they are there to take on the enemies elites. If you hadn't considered it, your praetor could do with what's become the standard load of an iron halo and digital weapons for 1+ attack - mine with both and the blade of perdition killed a previously unwounded Fulgrim the other day!

Most people argue against 20 man tac squads, personally mine win me games, see how you get along, the apothecary with them is a good shout.
