Blindhamster
Hey guys, so I have been a player in a Deathwatch campaign for quite a long time, although we had a huge break and are finally coming back to it next month for the finale. due to this i decided I would make each character in miniature form, and perhaps try and comprise them into a diorama. The characters are: Me - Lorenzo, a Blood Angels librarian that is a little insane and prone to bouts of extreme rage and blood lust. He had recently gained a unique death mask that permanently bleeds from the eyes... Fugan, a Salamanders Apothacary that makes use of a heavy flamer, bolt pistol and bolter (guy was a tank...) Shiban, a White Scar assault marine with a power sword and dueling tulwar plus his bolt pistol Deodaste, a Black Templar tactical marine that has a power sword plus his bolter, bolt pistol and combat knife... oh and an obsession with interrogation and is a total zealot. Yuber, an Imperial Fist tactical marine, with a sniper rifle and power sword, bolter and bolt pistol, he was also our defacto leader. Brynjolf, a space wolf devastator, armed with heavy bolter (and FAR too many kraken rounds), a wolf helm, power axe and bolt pistol Kheres, the iron hand tech marine... who lost his leg in the session before being thrown back in time and finding ourselves on istavaan... not sure what we are going to do about that!? We had been thrown through time due to chaos powers and witnessed Prospero burning, and were then whisked away, we left it off appearing in the middle of the dropsite massacre... we have been told to not all expect to survive to the end of the finale (which is an all day event that I'm very much looking forward to!) anyway, yeah so I quite fancy making a diorama of our group, probably mid battle, fighting... something. We've fought tyranids, orks, daemons, chaos marines, traitors during the heresy and cultists. I decided to make my character, although I've got a temp head (actually the head from my legion Praetor), I need to decide if i will model him with a death mask, and if i do, what it looks like. I may also add a little extra BA bling, but wanted views on the pose first. Also need to decide if i want to source a decent force sword or not (suggestions?? He has a grey knight one at the moment, which is cool, but a touch dull) Edited March 17, 2017 by Blindhamster Pearson73, Ovidius Incertus, DaBoiKyknos and 18 others 21 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332045-deathwatch-squad-based-on-group-from-rpg/ Share on other sites

Brother Dallo
You could consider true-scaling them to make them stand out, if that's your thing? I know it's not everyone's' cup of tea, but I think it looks awesome when done well. I'm currently in the process of making a true scale Death Watch Howling Griffon in my thread for if I ever get to play DW (though it's probably a pipe dream, at least for the short term).  Looking good.  I'll be watching this thread with interest.  Dallo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332045-deathwatch-squad-based-on-group-from-rpg/#findComment-4686845 Share on other sites

Looking good.  I'll be watching this thread with interest.  Dallo I've done true scaling in various forms over the years and eventually decided that I don't like how it looks unless the entire thing (more or less) is scratch sculpted so the proportions are all right. If the whole marine 2.0 thing pans out I'd consider using those though (unless they look totally different to marines). Anarnii
What sword does he have? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332045-deathwatch-squad-based-on-group-from-rpg/#findComment-4687635 Share on other sites
Blindhamster
At the moment, it's just a grey knight one. But I'm considering trying to source a proper force sword or making a funky one like the one my mephiston has instead. Pork Chop Express
Hello Blindhamster, Â If you're looking for a right handed force sword, IÂ recommend the one from the Deathwatch Blood Ravens Librarian. The one that comes in the Kill Team Cassius box set. Â Regarding your model, I really like the casting hand and the pose looks natural to me. That being said, the psychic hood that he comes with the Blood Ravens Librarian is a separate back piece as well. What do you think about replacing that piece on your model? In my mind, psychic hoods really scream "Librarian" to me more than the weapon does. Â What are your thoughts? Blindhamster
I didn't put a psychic hood on him because he doesn't have one. Not enough renown yet! I'm wanting to keep him (and the rest) close to the the actual characters. I should probably find a book for him though as a librarian! Â The suggestion of that force sword is a good one, I'd looked at exactly that one as a good candidate, my only issue is getting just that models arm lol. Â Sword ordered! The joys of eBay! sockwithaticket
I differentiate force weapons by colour. Regular power weapons are blue, force are purple. Saves you having to source or craft one (plus I'm not a fan of the swirly patterns they put on 'actual' force weapons). Blindhamster
It's just a BA librarian head with the hood shaved off and hair sculpted on :) but I wasn't planning to keep it on there as it's meant to be my praetors head. Â I'd planned to do a head like the one I did for my Aphael model... That's right, it requires a much larger amount of renown than anyone in my group currently has, or a higher rank to get the correct specialisation. That Guy Matt
I like the conversion so far. Nice to see what can be done with Artemis (I'm thinking of trying to turn him into a new Watch Captain myself). Â For a cool death mask, some kind of Stormcast Eternal head? Maybe one of the Paladin variants? That's if the scale is OK. Blindhamster
lol, sadly didn't go anywhere with this. People weren't helpful with providing information and I got sidetracked with other things! He remains unpainted on a shelf, and likely will for a long time now as I'm determined to build and paint my Primaris stuff in a timely (for me) manner. jimbo13
Have you tried the Sanguinary Guard Glaive? Or perhaps a simple Blood Angels power sword, thinking the death company one. Simple but just enough flourish.
