Legio Draconis
Brothers I know this maybe a long shot but are any of the Dark Angel successors based around the iron wing. If not how would you think one would be set up? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332194-dark-angel-successor-based-on-iron-wing/ Share on other sites
Charlo
None right now, it would seem. But it would be a good guess to assume one might be - the Firewing symbol is the same as the Consecrators and the Death/ Ravenwing still exist. Nothing stopping you making a treadhead chapter :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332194-dark-angel-successor-based-on-iron-wing/#findComment-4690078 Share on other sites
Legio Draconis
That what i was thinking Charlo, was thinking mechanised infantry with a higher number of relic tanks and maybe a few super heavys. Othniel's Blade
Silly Iron Hands, only using one Principia and not acknowledging its masters. Chaplain Lucifer
Of the six hosts that comprised DA Legion, only two survived as companies when the Legion was divided into Chapters. Maybe it was deemed two would be enough, maybe there are other reasons. But to the point, seems like Unforgiven seem to have adopted a traditional Codex approach while maintaining 2 specialized companies. Doesn't seem that a sucessor would adopt just one style of fighting because DA are adepts of tactical flexibility. What could be interesting approach would be a Sucessor having a Ironwing company instead of a Deathwing or Ravenwing. SickSix
Well some chapters have been written to specialize in one thing as a whole but can obviously still fight as normal when the need arises. Why not have a chapter in the Unforgiven that can field massed armor? Isn't it the Invaders that are rumored to have more predators in their armory than any other chapter? Othniel's Blade
If I had the dollars to afford that many tanks, I'd be all mech-inf or vehicle-based. Especially with a demi-coy lending itself to free transports. The argument could probably be made for Drop Pods being considered mech-inf as opposed to shock troops as well, similar to today's 'cavalry' being both tank/armd vehicles and helicopter drops. Reyner
Isn't it the Invaders that are rumored to have more predators in their armory than any other chapter? That would be the Aurora Chapter I think who are supposedly descended from the Ultramarines Fourth Chapter in the Heresy :) They were nicknamed the Aurorans and some had green pauldrons. How about alternative facts as it is very modern today: Of the six hosts that comprised DA Legion, only 2 reported back when the Legion was divided into Chapters. Those that didn't answer the roll call were asumed destroyed... On the table your "successor" could look like tanks from the original legion with maybe the signs and official registration numbers scratches or concealed... could be cool.
