DarkChaplain
I'm an hour 10 minutes into the episode, and my god this is what I wanted out of Peter getting his time to shine. He's brilliant. Going to listen to the rest in a bit. Thanks for doing this. veterannoob
Thanks for bringing this genius to my attention. We'll be having a giveaway for a signed book in a bit. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332254-its-here-peter-fehervari-interview-is-up/#findComment-4691613 Share on other sites
DarkChaplain
I'm so happy you got him to talk about the Angels Penitent/Resplendent, Black Wings and Brotherhood of a Thousand. I remember talking to him about the latter quite some time ago, and his ideas are brilliant. To the point where, if he got to write about them in full length, I believe they could be one of the most satisfying and intricate Chapters ever covered by BL. Coupled with the nuggets of information he dropped about the Angels, I am floored by this interview. Listening to it makes me kinda happy you're the one doing interviews, Kenny. I don't think I'd have been able to stop Peter from telling me everything, and then never been able to publish the damn thing, or cut it down to size. Even without over a decade of experience doing this before the show, almost 4 years of interviews for Combat Phase you learn how to do this, manage time, pick out what people want to know, be spontanious and keep within the boundaries of what an author and myself are allowed to say within the maze of NDAs. ;) Glad you enjoyed. If GSC does well, we'll hear more from him. So we've worked out a contest to help that happen where someone is getting a nice prize. More to come on that (and other BL give-aways/contests this year) coming soon... Xisor
I started the ep last night, but paused just before the interview as it was *way* past a sensible bed time. Hugely looking forward to getting out of work in good time this afternoon to have a listen with a long, arcing walk home! veterannoob
Listening to interview AND exercising walk at the same time?! Top drawer, BL is officially good for your health ;) We did talk more before and after recorder was on but that's just other stuff off topic. Peter's a great dude. We really need to pimp GSC so he comes back to work beyond what he mentions coming up. For what it's worth, I can totally appreciate then technical struggle needed in doing the Ad Mech well. I thought he did a terrific job of it, and I always find short stories a great venue for reading projects that are technically difficult in principle - both Rob Sanders & Matt Farrer have done some of my favourite works in short form - so Peter's contribution in that anthology was incredibly well received by me. (I also thought the personal/in-head stuff was really well done too - though I can appreciate it might not necessarily be precisely what he wanted, I certainly loved what he did make!) More to the point: I *desperately* want to see "Green Harvest" (the ork/propaganda-film-goes-wrong) novel done with full bells and whistles, it sounded amazing! Maybe there's room to tie it into the Gathering Storm/post-TGS narratives in GW too (and thereby let it be an easy two-birds/one-stone sell for GW & BL)? Whatever is needed to make it happen. More to the point: anyone curious who has read Genestealer Cults (and all the rest of PF's work) should do so immediately. Tonight. This instant! We need more! HeritorA
Points about philosophy and Chaos Gods, Dark Coil and mind trip are precious. I now totally believe that Peter Fehervari is one of the most intelligent writers ever. And by the way Peter Fehervari you would be able to write an awesome SMB novel (it's not bolter porn everytime) - it would have a nice mix of horror, battle and Chapter views on the Galaxy. Won't you agree veterannoob? And I sincerely think it's past time Peter Fehervari should write a Horus Heresy novel (just imagined what Peter could do with the range and horror and warfare — yummi!) 'Nightspire' - I want it now! It should be AWESOME! Can't fething wait. By the way all the tidbits between the novels/shorts/novellas: Fire Caste > Vanguard > Crown of Thorns > Cast a Hungry Shadow > Genestealers Cult > Fire and Ice are SIMPLY AWESOME! And if 'The Emperor Condemns' would be a lovely prequel for the Angels Resplendent I don't mind - so much good stuff! DukeLeto69
Awesome interview. My respect for Peter has grown even more. What an intelligent, interesting and modest guy. I would love LOVE LOOOOOOVE to read all of those story ideas but I really worry that BL won't give them a chance which would be such a pity! Jareddm
That was really excellent. I had Angels of Caliban next on my reading list, but I think I'll hold off on it and get through Fire Caste and Genestealer Cult first.
