General Strike
So, I was thinking about starting a Legion project, mostly just for writing practice and some cool character making. I had the idea of them being sent into the webway as an exploratory task force, where they were trapped by some force. I have been working on ideas based around the Harlequins, or whatever form they existed in during the Great Crusade, and my Primarch being a PreCog. He is shown a vision of the far future, and the Harlequin who showed him it trapped them in a Stasis Field of some kind to make sure they are around during the 41st Millennium. Rough idea so far, I want them to be early GC, with Mk3 Armor and Cataphractii. Any help would be welcomed. Most of their heavy support was brought with Predators, and Devastators. They have no Sternguard, but do have Legion Veteran Squads that can carry Bolters or any mix of special weapons. They also have access to Devastator Flamers, which are a template that are a poison 4+ AP4. These can be carried by Assault Squads, Legion Veterans, and put onto the various flamer equipped vehicles of the legion. After being shown a dark vision of the future by a Masked Eldar guide, they were locked away in the lost web way city, forgotten and lost the his Father and the Imperium at large. Miras, the XIth son of the Emperor, leader of the feared Legion of the Lost Sight was shown his Father chained to a dark machine, worshiped my the corrupt and used by those far below him to oppress, and while locked away he trained alongside his sons for the day they were released from this trap. His Father had sent a Golden Host with him, a fierce compliment of the Legion Custodes to fight through the Eldar web way and discover it's secrets. While they have fought alongside many friendly Eldar, their darker sub race were a disturbing enemy to encounter. At the time of their charge, they were clad in the finest armor and given the mightiest weapons available to the Legion Astartes, but the Emperor knew even this may not be enough, thus he lent his Son 50 of his finest warriors. Now they are released, locked away and training for the day they would face the great darkness that consumed the mighty Emperor's dreams, marching forward in clean, steel armor, the glinting violet eye mark a gift from the greatest of Mankind. They shall rejoin their brother, Roboute, at Terra, and bring death to these monsters who pretend to be the Demi-Gods of the Astartes. Pushed by guilt for being locked away while his Father and brothers burned away, corrupted or destroyed by the hellish nightmare brought by the Ancient Enemy. Ten thousand years of training alongside the Custodes, armed with the ancient knowledge from the Daughters of Ceograch and burning hatred of the Chaos warp creatures that brought about the death of his beloved brothers, The Forgotten Son returns to cut away at the true enemy of all life, Chaos. The Psykers of his legion underwent Xenos rituals to lock their powers into a curtain that weakens and blinds the enemies of Order, and the Watch Officers of the XIth keep vigil for signs of weakness of mind and strength against the enemies of man. None shall find them wanting. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332281-the-forgotten-the-xith-legion-brainstorming/ Share on other sites
Demus Ragnok
I'm not the best at giving advice on rules and such but you seem to have mixed legion units with 40k units. Is that intentional? General Strike
Yeah, the idea is that my legion was lost during the Great Crusade, and only recently returned to modern day 40k. So they have some legion units, sort of like how Chaos units are similiar to Legion units. General Strike
Going backwards, Miras was raised on a lost feudal world, ruled by Knight Houses. The only technology was that allowed by the Knight Houses, farming equipment, medical equipment, low grade power armor used by warriors of the various knight houses, and the Knights themselves. He was found during the Great Crusade, not by his father, but by his Brother Fulgrim. After meeting with his Father, he was assigned to be trained by his Brother before being placed in charge of his legion. The XIth legion was severely weakened during the Crusade, with the 12 Great Chapters weakened down to 250 marines. When Miras returned to lead his legion, he began training each Great Chapter in a different form of warfare, mastering each as they slowly rebuilt the Legion. Gifted a vast armory of MK3 and Cataphractii Terminator Armor, they fought alongside Fulgrim and the Emperor's Children until they were given a new assignment by the Emperor. Marching forth with the advanced training of his brother, the mighty Knights of his home world, and a force of Custodian Guard he took on this new mission into the Eldar web way. General Strike
After major brainstorming, had some inspiration. 12 Knight Houses on Miras homeworld, each linked to a GC, recruits are mortal soldiers if they don't make it to the Astartes level, Scouts eat and sleep alongside these mortal warriors. Legion had to be vastly rebuilt, and the XIth Legion survivors become the Honor Guard of their Primarch. The 12 Knights join the Primarch along with the mortal armies, while the lesser Knights remain behind to defend their home. Miras trains his Librarians in the same Disciplines passed down in the libraries of his home, purely anti-psyker defensive psykers.Command StructureMirasHonoured Knight GuardThe 12 KnightsLegion Astartes CommandAstartes of the Radiant Eye Legion.Oathbound(mortal armies) Chapter Tactics: Gain access to doctrines, and enemy units must re-roll to hits of 6 when a doctrine is enacted on top of it's effect. General Strike
During the Heresy conflicting reports claimed Miras had led his split and broken legion on both sides of the Conflict, the warrior charging into battle at the zealous head of his remaining loyal sons, cutting the Traitorous enemy to pieces, his mighty spear burning arcs through ceramite and corrupt flesh alike. Other reports have him marching amongst his corrupted sons, swirling with dark energies from the Chaos gods, horns and claws ripping from his armor and blood running from his burning eyes. The tainted powers of the Chaos Gods fueled him in his hate, only revenge against those who have wronged him on his mind. His legion is shattered, he slaughtered the Golden Warriors sent to fight alongside him, and carries their bloodied helmets on his massive, warped armor. After failing to defeat his Brother, he was banished to the eye of terror. But with all records of the XIth purged, only Magnus and Roboute can know what truly happened with their young brother.
