'On Hate' (Aaron Dembski-Bowden's Crimson Fists short story) states Deathwatch veterans receive mind-wiping when they leave the organization, to ensure they won't reveal the Inquisition's secrets. Even if Kahuai wants to tell others of his experiences, he cannot.

Good job on the model.

OK it's official. I want to have your babies. See you at Badab Brother.

PS: Thinking of getting Tomau Ika Kihua tattooed on my forehead

PSII: Any Badab Historians may wish to point out at this point that officially The Raptors disengaged from Badab in 908, whilst these boys arrived in 910. Well observed but we kept a surveillance force there just to watch this project log develop

@Bjorn Firewalker: I know the shortstory, I assume you are referring to the Inquisitorix' prologue? In that case; what I was stating implies not that Kahuai was unwilling to share information with his fellow Carcharodons about his service with the deathwatch, but that he was unwilling to share any information with the deathwatch and the inquisition about the xenos he and his chapter encountered in the void beyond the halo region. As far as I am aware, there is nothing that would have prevented him from recounting the wars against xenos-race ABC to Brother Yorrick of the Flesh Tearers, Paul of the Ultramarines, Samuel of the Novamarines and Inquisitor Hannes, as an example. As such, his expiriences with the Deathwatch are irelevant, as it is not that which eh consciously decides not to share, but things that happened before he arrived at the Watch-fortress. Hope that clears it up :smile.:

@Vairocanum: Thank you very much mate, means a lot :smile.:

@malcharion: Thanks mate, it's nice to see all the badab and carcharodons content on the upswing :biggrin.:

Today I have something a little different for you; a primaris marine. I've got my box a few days ago and was mainly immersed in Nurgle stuff, as some of you have maybe seen in my other thread. Now, fluff aside (I don't think it's so bad, certainly nothing award worthy, but it is far from the clan-raukaan fluffmurder/nonsense that some people decry it as, in my opinion. Then again, I actually enjoyed Deliverance Lost, so eh), the figures are lovely. A joy to put together and they really look the part! I've begun converting a few of them up, which is done quite easily with the figures provided in the Dark Imperium box, and I can already say that heads and shoulders are the same size, although many heads will look rather weird or wont mesh with the primaris aesthetic (Such as mk II and III) and others wont fit if you don't remove the collar (Such as mk V and VI). Mk Iv, oddly enough, looks a bit wonky to me, but mk VII and VIII fit perfectly.
Anyhow, here are some wips of my first primarish Carcharodon :smile.:

The miniature is nearly finished; only the purity seal and puches remain, then comes the base and one final satin varnish.
Hope you liked the small update and have a nice day :smile.: C&C is, as always, very welcome!

Hi brother !

Nice work on this primaris ! Another great looking model ! Again I really appreciate your vision of the Carcharodons, they show a really dark side, like furious shadow hunter. It really inspired me and I'd try to get this effect with my tyberos without managing to reach the depth of your models "atmosphere". You make me wanna do some primaris now :dry.:

When the Ancients awaken

Many things have once resided beneath Terra's oceans; snake-like fish with bony heads and flat teeth; large, white beasts with jaws of razors; titans that swallowed the sea.

When the pale nomads had taken to the star, so too in spirit did the oceans. Now, the silent hatred of ancient titans has returned to us, to feast upon the weaker beasts that rear their head in the dark between the stars.

Carab Culln, after the joint operation at Station 227

The battle was hard, but we had pushed the Carcharodons into a situation that disfavoured their way of war. Iku reloaded the fixed heavy bolter next to me as I fired down the hallway. A few of the grey-clad astartes were splattered on the walls, torn apart by the heavy shells of our weaponry. While we could not kill all of them we had enough ammunition to keep them under constant surpression-fire for reinforcement to arrive. Then, when our cousins of the Mantis Warriors arrived, we would clean this station of this filth.

"Sergeant Kahro" Iku groaned next to me as he took to fire again "The auspex is picking something up; a large mass of ceramite and machinery perhaps."

"We can hold back terminators too, we'd strip them of their protective layers long before they'd reach us" I'd seen their various patterns of terminator armour; I was quite astonished to be frank. Whole detachments of such relics, mostly armed with claws of searing light.

http://i.imgur.com/GfdP8zS.jpg?2

"Iku, how long until reinforcments arrive?" My voice had grown raspy from all the yelling and roaring; the woes of being a sergeant.

"Hard to say sergeant, the Carcharodons are barricading the hallways" My battle-brother had spent barely a decade as an astartes, yet he had already shown an aptitude for technology. Had he been born in a less enlightened age, he might have been sent to Mars. Now, however, he thumbed commands into a crude auspex between the carcasses of his squad mates. "The Mantis Warriors should arrive within 3.27 and 4.86 minutes."

I grunted in approval, focusing on the empty hallway as I swerved my gun around in an attempt to kill the Carcharodons that had holed themselves in, but to no avail. They were tense, crouching and hiding behind jutting pieces of construction and around the corners of branching hallways, yet only now did I notice that they did not seem to wait for an opening in my assault. They appeared to be waiting.

http://i.imgur.com/1o1GXfY.jpg?2

I signalled Iku to cease fire as I took to reloading my heavy bolter. The Carcharodons did not assault us, some even turned their heads down the other side of the hallway. I felt the iron beneath me shake gently as I retrieved a new magazine. The next vibration was more abrupt, violent and made my magazine slip from my hand with a dull thudd. It was a thunderous, slow thudd of massive feet smashing against reinforced steel and plastek. It was too slow to be a squad of dreadnoughts.

"Iku, what does the auspex say? Has the image cleared up?" I already knew the answer, I knew that this was not a squad of tactical dreadnought armour making a dramatic entry, and my belief was reinforced when the chatter of slugs tore through the hallway and cut apart incomming Mantis Warriors; our reinforcements were apparently already caught up in battle.

"It is a walker, sir! Though i do not believe it to be a castaferrum-pattern dreadnought. The radiation patterns don't match up and the device says something about atomantic shielding."

A god of war came into our field of vision, a statue come to life and armed with weapons of divine destruction. A silver skull leered from its chest, wreathed in ivory scrolls and golden thunder and black and white tattoos danced across the slopes of grey and black as it strode. An eyeslit of baleful jet turned to face us and the kheres-cannon opened its merciless barrage upon our encampment.

After a brief flash of white and yellow all went dark.

Hello everyone :) Today I bring you my finished contemptor (First of two actually!). I am quite happy with him, well, apart from the base. I will be returning to a mix of the Industrial bases and rusty mud and snow, as I think the mix works perfectly and provides more visual interest. I've also been experimenting with Primaris marines and while I don't like the reivers, I think I have come up with a suitable replacement, you'll see what  I mean in a few weeks ;)

@Chaplain Dosjetka: Messi vielmol, dearest local Chaplain ;) To be quite honest with you, I do feel where you are comming from. Of all the releases, only the regular primaris marines I like (I really do actually). The weird jump-marines and reivers I don't like at all, I find the Leviathan to be much superior to the new one and the reivers don't tickle my fancy either. I do believe that gravis armour has quite some potential; the pose of the captain just doesn't work in its favour.

@Pearson73: Thanks! It is really easy. First I sponge on a 1:1 mix of Rhinox Hide and Abaddon Black, then a bit more gentle with just black and then with Vallejo Model Air Steel.

@Sandlemad: Thanks mate. Since I've started on carcharodons, my freehand skills have improved massively.

@The Yak: Thanks bro! No worries, it gave me a good chuckle :D

@Vairocanum: Thank you kindly! The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the Primaris was just how much surface there was for freehands and exile markings.

@m0nolith: Thanks :)

@malcharion: Greetings fellow brother in exile! I am very pleased and humbled to hear that you appreciate my stuff, especially seeing as it was your work that finally convinced me to start my long-planned carcharodons army. Don't know if I've already said it in your thread, but your Tyberos is delicious! Just you go ahead and have some primaris, they are a joy to paint, and I bet you'd make them look amazing!

So, that is all for today. As you can see many of my pics are still broken and in process of being replaced. Hope you enjoyed the contemptor and have a nice day. C&C is, as always, much appreciated and welcome.

Hey folks, small update time :smile.:

First. the Carcharodons Primaris is finished and I am very, very happy with him! The figures are a joy to paint and there is a lot of surface for freehand, I am even tempted to do a one-off lamenter and/or minotaur. As already mentioned earlier, I will be mixing up the bases a bit as I want to emulate a ruined Macropole during winter.

Also, here are the next few primaris additions :smile.:

http://i.imgur.com/EnLVVrV.jpg?2

The captain will be getting a few more skulls and chains in order to be de-imperialised a bit more, the base is just a rough shape before I lay down some plasticard and Astrogranite.

The only thing that I changed on the Librarian was adding a book on his backpack; can't have a librarian without a huge tome!

http://i.imgur.com/1GBEbgc.jpg?3

Last but not least, here is a Primaris with a modified boltrifle. Now, I do not know where exactly I have seen this ingenius kitbash, either here or on instragram, but I found it so amazing, I simply had to replicate it. Initially, I was not a fan of the new boltrifle, which is the reason why I will usually be replacing them with regular bolters (If that won't be too tedious with the comming multipart kit), but on occassion I will definitely have to make this conversion. Also, when the aggressors finally get released, and if I do not like the combination of grenade/rocket launchers on gravis armor, I know what I will be doing ;)

@Vairocanum: Thanks mate :) I think one of the biggest appeals of the Badab Era is the greyness of morality. WHile the Astral Claws certainly can be painted as evil, I do not think one can do that to such an extent with the Executioners, Lamenters and Mantis Warriors. Also, the loyalist side features some of the darker, more brutal chapters; the minotaurs and the space sharks, which is a huge appeal in my eyes as the archetypes seem almost inverted. The contemptor should arrive somewhen next week, so I'll be posting him in about 7-9 days :)

I realize that this update is not really Badab-War related, since I seek to expand this army into modern-era 40k with all the new goodies, but next up are probably the last three veterans and the soon-to-be contemptor. So do not worry, we're still going to Badab Primaris ;)

As always, have a nice day! C&C is much appreciated and welcome.

Wicked characters :)

The Captain has excellent composition but I can't help but feel like he might benefit from a head swap -- just something a little more special. The Librarian looks great with the addition of the book, I don't think there's much I'd change on the original model either: Rock solid stock model.

Wow those new characters are certainly looking fantastic! The finished model looks good, would love to see a lamenter and or minotaur from you! I agree with KBA and I think the captain could do with a more brutal looking helmet. Looking forward to seeing more!

That's a really cool conversion. It works perfectly with the auto bolt rifle rules, since heavy bolters come with both box magazines and belt feeds, why not auto bolt rifles too?

The Wisdom of the Ancient

I was old when the Imperium was still young

The Void Father took me from my people

He sank his hooks and knives deep into our flesh

I was clad in the plate of a cthonic cult, forged by madmen

I remember the cruelty of war, the call of blood

I remember the cruelty of unification, the death of dissent

I loathed not the savage ways of my people

I loathed not what I became

Then came the Raven, cruelest and yet meekest of all

Disgust marred his black eyes, a deep hatred for my people and our ways

He cast us out, far into the dark, beyond the reach of Sol

'tis the greatest cruelty of all, to deny a warrior his honour

Long I loathed my people, the very ink upon my skin

Yet upon a blighted, nameless world I finally understood

As the earth drank my blood I saw truth

It was not us that had failed

We were forged by savagery and cruelty, imbued with purpose

We wielded our weapons in the way of our ancestors

We bore our culture towards the stars and the Void Father approved

It was not us that had failed, not the pale nomads, not the XIXth
It was the Raven, meekest of all, meeker than the Priest even

He cast his sons out because he could not stomach the stench of blood

And so he broke his little raven-ilk, twisted their blood in hubris

It was he who failed, not us

Hey folks, I've finally come around to building my second contemptor :) As far as dreads are concerned, i still plan on getting a deredeo, a leviathan, one or two Castaferrum dreads and probably another contemptor. Painting has come to a halt and will probably remain so for the next couple of weeks because I am currently in the middle of writing a paper, but things should recommence again around middle of August.

@Bjorn Firewalker: Thanks mate :) The head is meant to be a gator I believe, those have the broad snouts I think. The device is actually a part of the World Eaters Legion Contemptor (Which is what this figure is based upon), so it is not a conversion or anything.

@KBA: Thanks mate, glad you like 'em! To be honest, I've tried several helms with the captain (A FW berzerker helmet, Mk IV/II/III) but nothing really worked because somehow the rest didnt mesh visually. Thus I decided to keep it all Mk X, BUT, I think I have found a solution to this small issue: I'll start mixing up the various armour marks on a more intrinsic level. It is quite hard to explain what I mean, but I want to create a visual blend of, say, Mk IV and X, so I'll remove the collar and chest eagle, sculpt the typical crossed Mk IV cables, resculpt the knees and add a Mk IV helmet. Same will go for Mk V, Mk VI and VII, because they are all very analogous in silhouette. This should give me the ability to "savage" up my primaris a bit more. Still, thank you for the input, I trust you'll see it return in the next primaris conversion ;)

@Vairocanum: Thanks mate! See above for the savage helm topic. Currently, next to writing a paper that is, I am stuck in a flurry of various projects (Emperors Scythes, a revitalized love for my Iron Warriors, Carcharodons, drawing and designing my XIth AND an upcomming co-project featuring my Alpha Legion with ours truly --REDACTED--), so the chances on seeing various successor chapters is more than just likely. Probably even true-scales :)

@Khrangar: Mate, borrow away! All is free for the reaping!

@Tyberos the Red Wake: Thanks mate, that was exactly my thought process. 'tis truly a beauty of a gun, ain't she? :D

That is all for today folks. Sorry for the lack of fluff, but my writing for university and an unrelated fiction-rpoject of mine has seriously burnt me out. Hope you still like the B&W pictures :) As awlays, have a nice day! C&C is, as always, very welcome and appreciated.
