Tzen's Video Guide - Chipped Black Armour on Cypher

In reference to black primer vs black paint, I think you may mean that the primer is matt/has a matt finish. Just an early inconsequential thing I picked up on as I watched.

Anyhoo, the focus of the camera and narration seem to be decent enough, as is the positioning of the camera. The top-down view feels like it does the job fairly well without mucking around. Clear picture, clearly spoken and clean painting. You get good marks for those in my book. Oh, and it's not too long (although slightly shorter would have been nice). I think twenty minutes would have been pushing it for a tutorial.

Neat tutorial. More would be welcome. Consider me a subscriber. :tu:

Thanks Olis! :D

I know what you mean about the wording I have used. Especially the black paint thing. I only really decided to make this into a guide as I was filming it. I should really have thought about the "script" a little more as I went along. I think I mumble a little in places, and tend not to make sense in others! :D

Noted about the length. I need some decent video editing software. I could easily snip out the parts that aren't needed!

Hmmmm...

Eh, there's a certain charm to videos that are more 'off-the-cuff', in my opinion. It doesn't necessarily need to be really slick but that's up to you as the content-creator, really. ^_^

Oh... yeah. I forgot to say something. I've been watching Youtube channels for a while now and the one thing I've picked up on that would be relevant here is the music. Make sure it's non-copyright music. You don't want your video pulled because some git put in a copyright claim because of the music in the background. It's a sucky thing to do, but there's people out there that do it just to mess with you. dry.png

Tzen, loved the video. Here's a few suggestions for the future:

1. Maybe a short video talking about your wet pallet. If I'm not mistaken it looks like you are using one and I think people would be interested in learning more.

2. Maybe list your tools. It seems like an odd request, but your brushes look very well cared for and not the typical gw stock... suggestions would be great.

3. Your work is so fantastic it deserves some close ups. It was hard to see the battle damage... maybe zoom in at the end to get a close up shot. Other than that I think its really great and I'm definitely subscribing and looking forward to more!

Thanks Eldrick!

In that video I am just using a normal tile as my palette, but I do use a wet palette a lot. So I could do a video on that.

In the video I am just using GW tools. I do have lots of other stuff, but for the sake of ease in my videos I try to use GW stuff cos it's easy for everyone to go and get! :D but I will deffo list it all going forward.

The next video I do is painting marble. Once I finish recording the tutorial I will edit in some close up pictures so that folks can take in the whole thing. I might try and focus the camera closer to the lens too so I can bring the model a little closer!

I am really happy you like the video, and I am grateful for the suggestions! Hopefully I will be able to do something a little better produced next time round. :D

Its no way a criticism! I found it very useful as I paint a lot of black for my current blacklegion. I didn;t recognize the brushes you're using... they looked too good for the standard citadel painting fair... unless they upped their brush game lately. I'm looking forward to the video!
