bluntblade
Now, 40kWiki tells me that the perpetual-motion Ironstriders were "perfected" in the 33rd Millenium. However, does that mean that the walkers themselves were only created/rediscovered at that time, or could they have existed in some cruder form before then? If not Ironstriders than certainly something very like them certainly existed in the Mechanicus arsenal. Battybattybats
They are depicted on the cover art of Horus heresy novel Cybernetica, but not in the book itself, nor does the cover match the events in the book. Other books do mention non-combat walking vehicles. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332618-ironstriders-in-30k/#findComment-4701590 Share on other sites
Atia
I'm quite sure Master of Mankind mentions "Strider engines" amongside other stuff like combat servitors, Sicarii and Kastelan Automata ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332618-ironstriders-in-30k/#findComment-4701633 Share on other sites
Vash113
To be fair I'm pretty sure Mechanicus fluff in various novels also talks about a wide variety of stalker tanks, artillery and other walker units. Even if the Ironstrider wasn't around in 30k there were plenty of other walkers in Mechanicus service that the Ironstrider could stand in for. MajorNese
I'm quite sure Master of Mankind mentions "Strider engines" amongside other stuff like combat servitors, Sicarii and Kastelan Automata ^^ MoM mentions pretty much the entire skitarii range and everything but electro-priests from the cult. A bit too obvious for my taste, but hey. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332618-ironstriders-in-30k/#findComment-4702275 Share on other sites
Charlo
And Electro Priests are in "The Binary Succession", which is worth a listen for sure. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332618-ironstriders-in-30k/#findComment-4702290 Share on other sites
