Starting Grey Knights.

Hello all. I recently bought the Primarch set and with how awesome Voldus looks...I figure I should give him his own force. Long story short made a trade and got 6 useable Terminators with another 4 that i can possibly save and at least 10 PA models saved plus a new 5 man Box. So my question to my fellow brothers..Can that be enough for a fluffy list? Whar more should i get? Also have 3 dreadknights but think i can only save one.

Yes Voldus is a great model, but you could use him 'counts' as and if you don't want to spend anymore money you could consider the Grey Knights detachment from the Codex Imperial Agents to supplement whatever forces you have until we know more about 8th. But you've got a good start.

So all said and done i managed to salvage the 6 terminators,12 PA plus the 10 i already had and a second dreadknight. I'll likely turn this into a WIP thread whenever i get some pictures and boot my pc up. Would normal PA hands work as a terminator hand?

They may look slightly awkward as they are different sized for both the hands and the hands holding weapons

I have no idea. If vehicles get "wounds" and the AP mechanic goes the way of the Dodo, then the rest of the system needs to be seen as well. What if Power Fists become very awesome? What if Lascannons become more powerful?

I mean, if cover saves also go, maybe target size matters? Dreadknights, like a few other things, are giant models, so what if shooters get a bonus to hit for that? The Dreadknight may not get weaker, per se, but the ability to destroy one may get easier.

I'm only suggesting to save money *now*.

I would wait on the Dreadknights until you know what 8th edition is going to do to units like this.

In your opinion, what do you think is the likelihood that they will weaken NDKs in 8th edition?

Personally (I know you didn't ask me but...) I would give it the same likely hood as GW weakening Riptides. Both units are cornerstones of their armies. For Grey Knights the NDK is the lynchpin. I think without the NDK (which is the number one reason so many loyalists ally with GK) you are looking at a very flat army that would sit around Deathwatch levels of competitive use.

They may get altered but if anything, I'd imagine something like vanilla dreads get better before NDKs get weaker. I mean the fact umours have a he Psychic phase being turned down so it would be a slippery slope.

Yeah I don't see DK's getting nerfed by 8th edition changes. Unless something drastically changes. Going first on the charge is brutal as hell, its gonna make Interceptors and DK's unholy terrors to backfield units.

I hope they don't ruin the Psychic Phase any further. The changes they've made so far have only hurt lower level psykers, psychic deathstars and high level psykers don't care.

Yeah if they are walkers suddenly the suck :cuss like the rest of em.

Yea that would seem to be a huge nerf if it goes that route. I can't imagine how the rules would be though, they would essentially have to redo the entire entry for Dreadknights. I love what they're capable of and hope they remain as is.

I think the armor save modifiers will be a big step for that. I kinda hope they look back at maybe increasing the attacks of pagks to 2 base like terminators (since unlike most other chapters, pagks are the same guys who are in tda instead of newbies and vets)

I reckon they will buff dreadnoughts and transports by giving them wounds, so the dk would largely stay effective but the other options would be viable alternatives.

My big hope for 8th is that termies get massively buffed. 3+ on 2d6 again would be great.

This would make a lot more sense for Terminators and be a lot more fluffy. I'm sure there will be some crazy strong weaponry reducings saves by a bunch, but it sounds more logical that you'd be using your higher strength weaponry to take down TDA units.

This will be a welcome change as TDA is pretty much a GK staple for starters. Can't go wrong with it imo.
