I've been working on rules for a [power armoured] Space Marines faction in Shadow War: Armageddon and have taken an initial stab at things. These rules include rules for the Salamanders.

I'd appreciate any feedback that you can provide to make this a better (and balanced) product.

SALAMANDERS

Holding to the teachings of their Primarch, Vulkan, the Salamanders are peerless craftsmen. Their heroes stride through the fires of battle wielding masterwork weapons, and their strike forces employ many flamer weapons.

A Salamanders Veteran Sergeant has access to a thunder hammer as a melee weapon option.

Masterwork Weapons: A Salamanders Veteran Sergeant may upgrade a weapon to Master-crafted for 35 points. This may only be done when initially creating a kill team or when purchasing a new weapon. Salamanders special operatives may upgrade one weapon to master-crafted.

Wall of Fire: A Salamanders fighter firing a flamer weapon may choose to make a wall of fire attack instead of using the normal profile. When firing a flamer weapon with a wall of fire attack, the flamer template does not have to be centered on the nearest target and may instead be placed so that it partially covers the nearest target. Any fighters wholly covered by the template are hit automatically and any fighters partially covered are hit on a further D6 roll of 3-6. The strength of the flamer attack is reduced by 1 and the Ammo roll is increased by 2 (so a wall of fire attack with a flamer would be at Str 3 with an Ammo roll of 7+).

Salamanders troopers may take Ferocity, Muscle, and Shooting skills.

Salamanders Specialists may take Ferocity, Guerilla, Shooting, and Stealth skills.

Salamanders Leaders may take Combat, Ferocity, Guerilla, Muscle, Shooting, and Stealth skills.

There are also some larger changes, though these affect all Chapters. These include some additional weapons and wargear (power mauls, power axes, power fists, grav weapons).

I made one substantive change. The Salamanders Chapter Honours now allow the Vanguard Veteran special operative to exchange his chainsword for a thunder hammer; the Sternguard Veteran special operative may exchange his boltgun for a thunder hammer or a combi-flamer; and the Terminator special operative may exchange his power fist for a thunder hammer.

 

I also made a few minor tweaks to wording for clarity (e.g., the Salamanders Wall of Flame rule applies to weapons with the flamer rule (rather than just "flamer weapons"), so applies to heavy flamers and combi-flamers.
