[SWA] Question on escaping pinning

Quick question came up after a recent game of Shadow War with a few gaming buddies regarding the ability to escape pinning.

  • The section on pinning states that if there is a friendly model from your kill team within 2" of the pinned model, you can roll to escape.  - So far so good.
  • It then goes on to list situations when models can be within 2" and are not valid and are disqualified, such as new recruits and downed models etc - Again, seems pretty straight forward.

The question is though, what happens if you have two models pinned together, within 2" of each other.  RAW, they don't meet the disqualification requirements mentioned in the last paragraph and I cant see anything that states a pinned model counts as a downed model.

Anyone else had this question come up?

I looked over the rules myself & you're correct it's not clear. I would assume that if you're pinned then you are ducking down & therefore not encouraging them to stand up. I'd say that if you're pinned then you don't count towards the friendly model within 2 inches. I'd discuss with your group to establish it before play to be sure.
