So while this army is not exactly... new for me, as i have been building it from around mid last year as an idea for a nice fluffy space marine force project with some small conversions included, I wanted to show you guys what I have made, as i have been super inspired by a lot of the Raptors armies I have seen on the forum. Personally, best chapter :wink: Everyone loves reasonable marines.

The basic plan for my force was to create a Raptors army that looked like it could operate in the field extended periods of time, with equipment.etc. dotted around the force. Found some razorwire and sandbags kits at my local hobby shop and well, down the rabbit hole I went!

So, onto pictures. Ill put them in a break below to not be so large on the screen:

The beginnings of the fledgling force. Here alongside a friend's stunning Raven Guard army we were about to take part in a Doubles tournament with.

Some of my armour I have laying about, including my converted engineering razorback, Whirlwind with retractable rockets and predator with coaxial and auto turret 'sponson bolters'

My photos from their most recent games at a tournament and a practice game to warm up. They somehow scored 2nd overall, which is insane considering this army was originally built to be fluffy, concentrating on primarily solid shot and ballistic style weapons! These guys will be heading to the GT as a Gladius force, and another tournament this coming weekend.

And the most recent family photo. I need to get all of my boys together someday to take photos, as there is still some missing, such as my lightning claws terminators, other razorback, second speeder... there is a few.

Oh and just a bit of a hint what Im working on currently with regards to the GT:

Can anyone say Thunderbudgies are go?

Current maxed out list is as follows:

+++ New Roster (Warhammer 40,000 7th Edition v2016) (3005pts) +++

++ Combined Arms Detachment (Space Marines: Codex (2015) v2011) (2270pts) ++

+ No Force Org Slot +

How effective has the Land Raider Redeemer been for you?  What sorts of units/armies does it perform well against?  Do you jam it full of terminators? :biggrin.:

Its been scary effective actually. Surprisingly survivable against 20 purestrain genestealers with Iron arm on a broodlord too. Currently I cram it with Grav Centurions and Issadon to bring some serious pain. I might be moving them to come in via drop pod now however, and letting the redeemer run riot. Let my Dread have the Stormraven as a transport (technically its an assault vehicle for it so smashy smashy time!).

Fascinating. I like the sandbags you added to the tanks- something real-world tankers did in World War II, in an effort to increase their vehicles' resistance to antitank weapons. The retractable Whirlwind missile launcher and the power shovel (an armored recovery vehicle? a combat engineering vehicle?) are interesting touches, and I'm curious if they grant certain special rules to the tanks, e.g., Shrouded (for the Whirlwind with the retractable missile launcher) or Bolster Defenses (for the power shovel-equipped Rhino or Razorback).

Only things to buy is the Vindicator, and need to paint a few things, but they still are my favourite force I own for marines. Even beating my HH Alphas.

Ah, I see you're a fan of sneaky blue-or-green marines too. Nice army, I might steal the idea of an engineering rhino. :happy.:

As for the sandbags, have you tried modelling them yourself with milliput? I found these less sterile, arranging them more fitting to the surrounding (instead of straight lines), and leaning small pieces of equipment, spare weapons or pouches to them.

I really should use putty, I just am not super confident and found a sandbag box in the hobby shop so decided to be lazy XD

And yeah take the idea! I based it of the Trojan engineering vehicle the british army uses. I called it a Diades pattern Razorback. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diades_of_Pella

Wooo these are excellent :tu:  Very well done on the look and feel.  I was particularly drawn to the Centurion suits because they are a rare sight to see in these parts.  I think they are very fitting for Raptors so kudos there.

I wouldn't mind seeing more angles of the Whirlwind ^_^

Thanks for the kinda words guys. Hopefully I will be able to follow this up with some updates soon from the tournament .etc.

And I will try to take some more photos of the vehicles ^^ Ill get a little parade sorted :P

Updates time! I have some re-inforcements inbound. One Grav tactical squad and a melta team, along with my rhino which will have almost a castle parapet of sandbags around the top.

Tri - Las predator, I used a very old predator I had laying about from my brothers old chaos space marines that he never used that I had originally reclaimed into a razorback with autocannons on the barrels. I replaced the cannon mount, added all the new armour and doors, and weapons. I am actually really happy how it turned out to be fair. Was tempted to make a super elongated Las barrel as the main 'cannon' with a small 'co-axial' cannon but this fit more in line with how my other predator is built. I may be getting a second tri-las soon too.

A brand new Lias Issadon model made from the heresy era Ultramarines banner bearer that was a special model for a time at GW. I had no need for an ultramarine model of course, so finally put him to good use, taking off all the icons to make a more 'Chapter Master' looking Issadon. The old model I had to the side will be now called Captain Benedict of the 5th Company. Most likely going to arm him with a Relic blade and bolter. Nice and cheap for when it calls for him.

Stormravens are insane. Im seriously loving fielding these, they really kick ass. I am very tempted to also get a Storm Eagle sometime next month too, but Im thinking about it. I have heard they have fixed the mould though so it is tempting.

Looking good. Go for the Fire Raptor over the Storm Eagle....it is supposed to be an easier build

I have heard that the mould for the Storm Eagle was fixed, and has made the storm eagle a far easier build now. Hopefully my friend is right because Storm eagles are tippy top.

And seriously, IT'S GOT BIG GUNS!

More seriously, Twin-linked is going to be mean in 8th edition and the Fire Raptor is bristling with TL weapons.

I know and I am tempted, but I like the transport capability over the firepower.

I think RealityBurn recently got a Storm Eagle so he may verify that :happy.:

I hope he can before I buy it!

Also Issadon is done!

Also did my first freehand Chapter logo. I am super happy with how it came out, so may do more soon.

Your Raptors are glorious, I think it's helped me choose what 40K Chapter I want to create a smallish force for (alongside my Orphans of Kasr Yet To Be Decided when I get my hobby mojo back).

I wanted one known for ambushes and Scouts but not RG themselves.
