Bythehololight
Interested to know people thoughts on this army. I want to model it as a proto astartes army. Thunder warrior esk. Possibly even make the ogryns count as 'thunder warriors' if I did I'd add heavy bolters some how and shave points else where in the army Proto astares army ZM list Force commander Augmented weapon Overlord Carpace armour Iron halo Total 93 Warlord trait ruthless tyrant Survivors of the dark age Abhuman helots Platoon command 4 extra Carapace armour Melta bombs Refractor field Laslocks Total 80 Troop Grenadier 8 extra at 5 each Lasrifles Advanced weapons Meltaguns Melta bombs Total 175 Another squad as above 175 Ogryn brute Carapace 3 extra 1 Boarding shields 3 combat shields 2 additional combat weapons Total 325 Medicare detachment 40 Total 998 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333232-proto-astartes-imperial-malitia-zone-mortalis-army/ Share on other sites
Caillum
Looks good! :) I would swap the FC's augmented weapon & carapace armour for a Cyber-familiar - gives him a 3++. I would also drop an Ogryn and go for 1 boarding shield & 4 power axes. That's a T6 3W 3+ save unit with 20 S6 AP2 attacks, 4 S5 attacks and 5 Hammer of Wrath hits on the charge. Also, defensive grenades. :) That will give you 20 points for the Platoon Command's "Advanced Weapons" - you need to upgrade all units that can take them if you choose to use them. Ah cool I'll take all your pointers on board. Just out of curiosity what would you think if I gave some of the remaining ogryns heavy bolters for 18'' assault 3 shots? I'm only considering it so I can model them like thunder warriors! Caillum
I feel like FW missed a beat with their Ogryns. The Solar Auxilia ones have BS3, and no ranged weapon options to speak of. The Imperialis Militia ones have BS2, and have Ripper guns and heavy bolters as ranged weapon options. :/ Either way, they're a melee unit first & foremost. Would be fluffy to have them with heavy bolters to represent Thunder Warriors, but it would be pretty ineffective.
