Black shields help!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a few queries about creating a black shields army. I don't have book 6 yet so my idea might be totally rubbish.

Fluff wise I would like to run a renegade space marine force, the upper echelons of which will be 1000 sons and other rogue librarian elements with mechanicum allies.

I would really like to take a librarian commander (I gather that's not an option though) with a librarian consul. And use the outlander special rules.

Beyond the Libby leader (can I add a knight errant to make that an option?) is all this possible. As I say I don't have the book so I can't work it all out.

Cheers

LoP

Yes you can add a Knight Errant but it still takes up your one allowed Consul slot (You can still take other Reaver Lords or basic Centurions), forces you to be Loyalist, and you then have to deal with the Knight Errant special mission rules added on. Also the Knight Errant does not benefit from the Black Shields Wrought By War special rule because he does not have the Legion Astartes (blackshieds) rule.

EDIT: And as per usual Librarians are support officers and cannot be your compulsory HQ so you'll need a Reaver lord or a Centurion to take on that role.

Also the Knight Errant does not benefit from the Black Shields Wrought By War special rule because he does not have the Legion Astartes (blackshieds) rule.

Actually the Knight Errant would benefit from the rule as all Knight Errants (including Garro and Rubio) have the Legion Astartes special rule and would inherit it just like any other unit with the rule.

Unless I'm missing something?

Yes you are correct, they do only have Legion Astartes and as far as I can tell there is nothing saying they do not benefit from an army's Legion Astartes.
