Fate of the second Abyss-class Battleship (Blessed Lady)

We know Lorgar constructed 3 of the Abyss Class Battleships and they were said to have "rivaled the phalanx" in terms of firepower and size. The first one (the Furious Abyss) was destroyed by a small strike team led by the Ultramarine Captain Cestus.

The other two (Blessed Lady and Trisaigon) appeared over Armatura however only the Trisaigon went along with Lorgar and Angron's main fleet.
The wreck described may be the the Blessed Lady that must have gone elsewhere into the outer reaches of Ultramar and faced off against a strong Ultramarine force.

Oh and to add a little bit of size perspective, the "minnow" that could pass right through it is a fully sized Salamanders Strike Cruiser.

Although I love the idea of star destroyer sized ships being in the word bearers hands have you actually seen how they looked?

The ships look hideous.

(Star Destroyers are pretty small, in 40K scale. They're about the size of a Claymore Escort or a Cobra Destroyer, the teeniest Imperial warships.)

Also, curse your eyes, those ships look awesome.

Have literally never seen that picture before. I still think it looks to.....flimsy? for a ship of that size/class.

I like my astartee vessel's BIG and bullish.

kinda like a MUCH bigger version of the below

Except kitted out with a ramming prow and more spires obviously. msn-wink.gif

I think that level of flimsiness kind of vanishes when a ship the size of a battle barge (which are what, 5km in size?) can fly through its insides like a "minnow".

I also don't think I ever realised that was the ship the Abyss-class were based off of. Mind=blown

In and out of Ultramar, as the Salamanders go to breach Lorgar's storms.

Personal nitpick; I'm not the biggest fan of the "something mysteriously bad happened here" line. The Sallies would've been hanging with the Ultramarines after all. Just feels like it could've been more evocative, is all.

Viz Star Destroyers, I forget where I saw it but there is a big poster kicking around the web with ships from a whole bunch of franchises. Darth Vader's flagship is somewhat smaller than your average battle-barge.

What probably happened:

>The Trisaigon split off from the main fleet during "Betrayar" and went off to the borders of Ultramar to destroy any of the Shattered Legions coming to Ultramar

>The Ultramarines find out about this and send a large fleet to attack the ship

>As the ship is near-invincible externally, the Ultras boarded it and detonated the warp core (the cause of death is said to be a warp drive breach later on).

Would make an AMAZING novel but noooo we have the "Outcast Dead" instead ;-;

I thought the ship mentioned in Deathfire is just the wreck of the Furious Abyss, as we know that it did arrive in the Macragge system before its destruction.

The wreck of the Furious Abyss is orbiting the planet of Maccrage itself. This wreck is situated all the way on the borders of Ultramar itself.

How in the hell would you even board such a thing? I can imagine the warp core is the most guarded thing in the entire ship being its only weakness. Boarding parties are likely to be eviscerated on the way in space.

Only conceivable way would be to crash some heavy ships into the darn thing a la vorpal swords and board that way.

Why do bad guys keep letting the most valuable parts of their base/ship unguarded? Like at least the whole Death Star vent was sabotage to begin with.

Who says they didn't? ;)

That is so awesome. Let's hope that the new BFG will have word bearer dominance with Abyss class ships.

The executor is 3km shorter than your average Gloriana, and only slightly longer than a normal battleship. A star destroyer is the size of a smaller escort vessel. The Phalanx is larger than the Death Star (both Death Stars are very small).
