Primaris Marines in 30k

Recommended Posts

P.S.: As a last hope to stick with heresy armor patterns I've developed my own MK of armor based on SW torsos, MKIII arms and backpacks and Ashen Circle legs. Will post the results later today.

That is literally all just MKIII, so no worries there :-)

That's also my concern with these new marines. I love the new scale, but they fall into the same trap as a lot of other true scale-esque conversions; that of matching era-appropriate armour marks. A lot of people sacrifice the defined armour marks to improve the scale of their marines, which in my opinion is just not an overall improvement as you gain one positive but lose another.

I hope anyone aiming to use these as true scale marines in the Heresy does them and the era justice, appropriately converting them to properly match up to the different armour marks :-)

If that shot is true, they will make even terminators look wee.

I will stick to then "normal" scale for marines

If I lose a game then

"ah you beat  my little dudes with your mega marines.... No big deal"

however if I win

"lol your mega marines got beat up by my regular marines :p"

sarcasm in the last part for clarification

Lmao,

I'm still hoping the difference is not that big but will be impossible to know until GW does release a direct comparison or we have em on our hands.

The only alternative I see is make it be MKIV reinforced armor by swapping the kneepads and changing the front of the torso a bit.

Do you guys see FW anytime upping their scale? I don't think it's too feasible honestly.

Forge World could actually up the scale faster and cheaper than the studio. They could release a set of each mark SigMarine sized with far less material and financial investment.

[Goldblum] We were so busy asking if they could, we forgot to start asking if they should! [/Goldblum]

So I finished my first six veterans to match the new big boys of Guilliman in scale and not look like dwarves. Introducing... Grieuxmarines!

So far I've converted the first batch of six veterans that would make my first squad. It's massively painful in time and money to make these so I need to decide if I finish both squads.

What are your thoughts guys:

- Do they work?

- Do you think they'll be big enough to compare against the primaris marines?

Well, fluff-wise the 'Primaris' marines are unleashed in M41.

Why should they thus appear in 30k ?

They weren't even invented.

Also, seriously, bigger marines ? Was that really necessary after the Centurion rubbish ?

Bigger pelvis plates, aww yiss !   /sarcasm

Great work with these! I love that idea, those legs add a bit of height while still keeping the torsos usable. No idea how they will compare with Primaris but I think they will be close enough to look good next to them.

I think this thread is more about using the Primaris models for conversions and less so about the lore side of Primaris being put into 30k

pretty curious on how they scale compared to the gal Vorbak as the word bearer elite are bigger than normal marines but will they be bigger than the gal Vorbak

Hopefully they won't then I can field them and laugh at primus marine players for having smaller marines :D

There are a few of us who have been making bigger marines for a while now.

Well, my tinfoil hat theory (feel free to take this however you wish, on a scale from "Woodward & Bernstein" to "Jet fuel can't melt steel beams!") is:

GW is phasing out the current scale of Marines, and will do so over a period of 2-4 years. We'll see the full range redone with "primaris" style Marines (and Chaos, as well). This is being done to ensure a difference between the HH model range and the 40k range; they don't want us to double-dip the same models for both. However, the Primarch and organization of the Primaris marines will be similar to how Legions work. To tempt the holdouts over.
