Primaris Marines in 30k

Recommended Posts

I think they could be converted to a Mk IV proxy fairly easily. I don't think they will be quite as big as regular truescale but could be wrong.

The best use might be mix and max Heresy pattern to be honest, I could see that easily being used to explain away if you removed a few bits and added some standard pattern shoulder pads, helmets and packs.

What would be the hight for it to be a truescale marine, from the soles to top of the head?

In mm if possible, but inches is ok to tongue.png

What it looks like is a head taller than normal marines. Is that the same with the primaris?

For me it's not about height. It's just about having believable proportions.

My guys usually are around 38mm tall from heel to top of the head. Some like the terror marines I'm currently working on approach 40mm. I think you're right with the primaris being about a head taller, as far as I can tell from the available pics. It's also the same difference between my marines and the regular ones, so I think they will be comparable in size.

True scale never looks 100%.  When both the thigh and calf are extended with an insert, they look a lot better, but the arms come across a bit short.

All of the current heads and shoulder pads are compatible, and honestly I think torsos would be very easy to adapt just by adding a spacer in the waist.  So that just leaves limbs.  The first guy to upsize MkIII limbs to Primaris side and mass produces them is going to make a mint.  I am already in talks with several bits designers who provide alternate legs to make some slightly longer versions.  I'll end up paying a premium as the first adopter, but oh well, I was unhappy with the size disparity of the Mk3 Prospero marines and the Rubrics anyway.

I've held off my current projects in favour of these guys for a while. First true scale project fell though (didn't like the finished proportions) in January, and by the time I started the next version, the leak had came out for these guys.

Will give them a try for true scale, but if I can't convert at least two heresy patterns of armour with them, I'll just stick to lengthening the thigh and calf as is becoming a popular true scale method.

Mk III and IV shouldn't be too hard thinking about it. There's a lot of guide lines to support the sculpting of either.

I don't plan to use the models for my heresy armies, i have spent too much work into my existing models to start from scratch and there are too many good upgrades and models from FW for the existing scale.

But they might be a good fit for some Gal Vorbak conversions. If I can get my hands on them easily I will try to convert them into possessed.

I've just realized one could start a small Horus Heresy army with parts of the starter set; either primaris lieutenant or the ancient plus two boxes' worth of intercessor and hellblaster squads net you one centurion, two tactical squads and two plasma support squads.

I expect a few such armies to appear in the near future. They even got maximus-pattern helmets!

As tempting as it seems you have to put a lot of efford into that since the helmets are the only part of the models which are right for 30k.
