k0nahrik's Traitor Wolves - Counts-as Khârn WIP

Recommended Posts

Hey BnC,

Some of you may have heard of the Geigor-off challenge on instagram, which involves using Geigor Fell-Hand's legs and torso as a base for a conversion. So I decided to give it a go, turning Geigor into a traitorous Space Wolf dedicated to Khorne. In games I'll run him as Khârn

Let me know what you all think!

Also: This thread is going to be the start of a new project, Traitor Space Wolves (along with some other conversions here and there that don't fit)

That's a very cool way of making something worthwile from the Geigor Fellhand model ;) Having just completed my own 30k Khârn conversion fairly recently, it occurs to me now that it would only really take one or two additional touches to make the model into an actual representation of the character, not merely a counts-as model. Excellent work!

The only thing throwing me off a bit is that Thousand Sons shoulder pad -- that seems like a slightly curious choice...

hehehe, trust you to pick up on that! my motivation behind choosing it was simple really: he's a very wolfy model, with not much to set him apart as a chaos space marine. I considered using a MK3 shoulder for him originally but it was too plain, he just looked like a loyalist! but then I saw the TS shoulder with it's weird mouthparts at the bottom, plus it's MK4 so matches the rest of his armour, so I decided to slap it on, when it has a rune of khorne painted over it I'm sure it'll look more in place! ;)

Mmm, a lovely simple conversion you have there k0nahrik, Geigor does makes a fine heretic rather easily doesn't he? And a Khorneflake at that! Tell me brother, having you ever heard of the Dornian Heresy? That mythical tome of blasphemous what-ifs that was forged into existence by our lost brother Aurelius Rex (blessed be his name) right here on this very site? I ask because in that twisted timeline Leman Russ and his Wolves, enraged by the Emperor's approval regarding the continued existence of Psykers within the Legions, launched an unsanctioned assault on Prospero and the Thousand Sons Legion to correct this perceived mistake, falling to Khorne in the process and becoming traitors to the Imperium. What I'm trying to say is, have you ever considered painting your Geigor up as a Dornian Wolf like the one below?

I have in fact read the Dornian heresy! However I'm not planning on painting them around any particular scheme... just making it up as I go along. Blue-grey with red shoulders is what I've got so far - so it will probably end up looking similar to DH wolves anyway!

Thanks all for the kind words

Managed finally to lay some paint on this guy. Torso is 99% done, just need to touch up the knife scabbard, fur and tassels on the right leg. Experimented a little with GW's snow texture paint, used it on the base but also added little flakes here and there sticking to his furs or leg plates. I'm liking the way the effect looks! As always C&C welcome

I really like it! Its a simple, but elegant conversion. Very well done!

Thanks pal! In the end I ended up switching out his right shoulder, after kraut pointed out that the tzeenchian look didnt really fit too well with the rest of the model I tried out a spare khornate shoulder I had lying around and much preferred the result!
