recon0321
Hello I am going to start a disciples of Caliban army...can any recommend a dark grey that could pass for black? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333728-color-help/ Share on other sites
Chaplain Lucifer
I don't think there's such a colour in GW painting range. Maybe you could try your own recipe mixing grey with black until you're happy with the result? Granted it's difficult to do but that might be the answer you seek. Cpt. Bannockburn
I usually use Eshin Grey, washed with Nuln Oil. Result is a deep grey with black recesses, but it can get splotchy on larger surfaces, so watch out for that Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333728-color-help/#findComment-4745715 Share on other sites
Raztalin
I usually use Eshin Grey, washed with Nuln Oil. Result is a deep grey with black recesses, but it can get splotchy on larger surfaces, so watch out for that Its a great method, but to avoid the "splotchy" issue try making a mix with lahmian medium, I usually try a 1 to 1 mix ratio Nuln Oil to lahmian medium. Then to highlight you can either dry brush / edge highlight Eshin Grey back over the top, or use a lighter grey, or progressive lighter tones until you achieve the result you desire. Cpt. Bannockburn
Good advice. I wasn't sure if Medium works, since I use this method only for e.g. armor joints and not large, flat areas. I don't even highlight there, but on armor I think that a lighter grey would probably work well.
