Hunter Model as a Vindicator?

Recommended Posts

Thread title pretty much says it all, so my concerns are two-fold:

1. Is there any practical, game-play reason that one could not proxy a Hunter as a Vindicator?  (I just don't like the vindicator model and I *DO* like the Hunter model).  It seems like you might lose a little bit of range using the Hunter, but gain some LOS advantage as the gun is on top.

2. Does the aperture for the Hunter's skyspear cannon mounting plate fit in the same area as the predator/razorback aperture?  Not that this is a huge issue, but I like being able to have all my "rhino-chassis" tanks interchangeable.

Thanks!

That's not a bad idea actually.  I think this is more about what your group thinks about it, because from my point of view I'd totally do it.  Why?

Save some money and space at home and/or transport because you have a 2-in-1 model :tu:

As for #2 - the Hunter turret will not fit in a Razorback plate; it's a larger diameter.  The Hunter plate is made for the Hunter turret.  There's a thread in the Gneral PCA forum about this, but I can't link it.  Do a search in that forum for "Hunter" - it should be the first hit.

It'll be ok until we get access to the Hunter in 8th ed :)

If you don't like the vindi, maybe try to make a turret mounted demolisher cannon like the Leman Russ?

I reckon the vindicator demolisher weapon and cowling wouldnt be too hard to add to a predator turret.

Or cut away half the front glacis of the hunter and slam the hunter missile thing in there!

As long as you make sure that the turret cannot turn(IE make it a tank hunter instead of a tank) and just fires to the front arc you should be golden.

But as soon as you turn the turret  and fire anywhere other than the front arc you're modelling for advantage.

Should I just paint Leman Russ Demolishers in the colors of my Chapter if I want my Demolisher cannons in turrets with 360° traverse? (Why not just give my Chapter Astra Militarum allies? Because giving the tanks Space Marine crews will allow me to give all tanks BS 4, whereas only the tank company commander gets that in an Astra Militarum army.)
