No, they cannot be taken on their own; you need either a Primarch, Praetor or other HQ unit that has the option to take a Command Squad to even include one in your list. The upside is, theyre their own unit and dont take up a slot.

 

Unless you're asking:

  • Take Praetor
  • Take a command squad with said praetor
  • Attach other HQ to command squad, shove praetor somewhere else.

In that case, yes, you can.

Thank you for the reply Slip. I was not clear with what I was asking, so I will explain my situation.

I run a preator and a chaplain. Could I use my preator with one of my troop choices. And use the command squad with my chaplain?
