Valkyrion
Weird title, but I'm after something a bit like Diablo from Diablo 3 when (s)he takes you into the shadow realm http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130509220761/powerlisting/images/6/6a/Diablo_phase2.jpg I've seen loads of ways of painting ghostly effects using light colours with a green wash, but I kinda want the negative of that. I don't know if would translate to a model because the bits you'd normally highlight the most (feet, spikes, hands etc) are actually the darkest part. Any help would be super. It's for a potential daemon project - so if anyone can offer any ideas then any advice on what to do with weapons and armour would be great too. I want them to look as incorporeal as possible so I have no idea whether to paint metal bits metal or just have it as extensions of the flesh and so on. Cheers! Master Commander Ajax
What model/models are you planning on painting? Also, did you see the Warhammer TVs tip of the day from Thursday? Valkyrion
Khorne and Tzeentch mainly. I want a ghostly, ethereal feel to them that isn't white + green wash but don't just look plain and dull. Khornestar
I've been after a similar technique for a long time, but have yet to see it. Lots of people seem to advocate grays washed with many layers of nuln oil, but it still looks grey to me. I think someone did a decent Be'lakor, I'll see if I can find it. Blacks just don't show a lot of detail on minis, but that I'm convinced that can be used to great effect. Just don't know how... :P Good paint job, but you can see what I mean about grey: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gNRPfcJofkQ/VGYTBOc0F6I/AAAAAAAAHRc/9hyyG4gH6GU/s1600/DSCF8774.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333790-black-ghostly-phantomy-help-requested/#findComment-4750472 Share on other sites
Bryan Blaire
Valkyrion, do you want the purple glow at the joints/beneath the skin. I have some ideas, but I won't bore you with them if they aren't what you are looking for.
