DieJerks
Hi guys, I am fairly new to Warhammer 40k and have started collecting a Dark Angels army. I recently bought the Company Veterans Squad set and am having trouble deciding what weapons etc. i should give them. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Brother-Captain Sharp
Well, 8th is about 3 weeks around the corner, and it could very well completely change how we can equip our squads, or what will be the best to put on them in terms of strength. I would honestly say delay building them for a bit if you can. Combi-weapons look to be getting much, much stronger next edition (can fire either half every turn). I will say you're generally better building them as ranged specialists rather than melee specialists. The points invested in a Veterans squad with melee weapons can be put into Terminators for a greater effect and more survivability. Interrogator Stobz
Agree, wait if you can. If not; one of the current very good uses for the minis is to make them five man Command Squads with 4-5of the same special weapons in a Drop pod or other transport. Used as Veterans with Combi-weapons is another almost as good option when deployed the same. Tooling them up for CC is too expensive for what you get, unless you just go the chainsword/bolt-pistol route and use their extra attack cheaply against hordes etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333909-help-with-company-veterans-squad/#findComment-4753961 Share on other sites

BlackTriton
waiting for the rule is all good, but if you want them to look good, get them two pistol http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p546/blacktriton1/33079099-b337-4a9a-9430-83de6e78704b_zps6qibqahs.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333909-help-with-company-veterans-squad/#findComment-4768567 Share on other sites
jbaeza94
Yes gun slingers! Being able to shoot the plasma in cc won't be too bad either Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333909-help-with-company-veterans-squad/#findComment-4768592 Share on other sites
Knight Master Eladric
I believe they already mentioned Cypher using the rules to fire off both of his in cc. So I don't see why vets can't. Btw they basically get look out sir for near by characters to soak wounds. As it always has been for our greenwing, ranged combat comes better to us over close combat. But, that being said, Veterans can be geared for melee now at such a cheap cost compared to 7th ed, I think having a close combat squad aint something to discard so easily. You can get a close combat squad of 5 veterans that will also tank wounds for an HQ, with storm shields all around, for 21 points base per model, with 3++ saves all around. That sounds pretty survivable to me. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/333909-help-with-company-veterans-squad/#findComment-4768791 Share on other sites
