Sun Reaver
Knights of the Chalice! I wonder if they will introduce more of them? So far, I'm kinda digging it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334005-new-ba-successor-spotted/ Share on other sites
sockwithaticket
So, scheme-wise, they're Blood Drinkers with black helmets What's wrong with the Blood Drinkers we already have? They're presumably going to be pretty banged up after this whole Baal (+ Ka'bandha) vs. Leviathan kerfuffle, for the sake of showing off Primaris armour surely they'd suffice?Generally not a fan of giving new successors the limelight when there are plenty of existing ones who could do with additional exposure. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but don't the Blood Drinkers have a golden/yellowish trim? I completely agree with your other sentiment, however I believe that this new chapter is part of the Ultima founding which are designed by Cawl to be primaris only chapters. I believe the text from Warhammer Community mentioned all nine loyalist geneseeds will have new chapters composed entirely of these new generation of marines. I'm sure the OG successors will have plenty of story moving forward after the Devestation of Baal. I'm just excited that there are even more BA's in the setting. I just wish they'd play with other colors outside of red, black, and white. Edit: Spelling. Xenith
No, they use BA markings. Drinkers use codex markings. This is page one of however many. It's hardly giving new successors the limelight, the first 4 instances are all primogenitors. Whoa whoa whoa whoa, all Nine Loyalist Legions?! As in including the Space Wolves? How? I thought the Russ Gene-Seed was too unstable to create new chapters with? Jeez, I think the VIth's Wulfen problem is about to get a lot worse... dread05
What annoys me is that Primaris are not seen outside of their own specific squads. There are no primaris tactical quads, devastator squads etc. Are there primaris death company or sanguinary guard? Since the primaris are supposed to be stronger, you cant go running a DC with mixed models and use the current DC datasheet. So the knights of the chalice is supposed to be a BA successor, but if it goes running only intercessors, inceptors and hellblasters, what makes them Blood Angels? Also, Primaris squads look really limited in weapons variety to be able to support a full chapter. Also, Primaris squads look really limited in weapons variety to be able to support a full chapter. Primaris are indeed only they're own specific squads. Think of them as their own military organisation but also a part of their parent chapter (if applicable). Primaris are made to be more specialised and fixed in their armament, similar to how the legions of old work. They are not made to be mixed in squads with other non-Primaris marines. Currently we don't know of any plans with DC/ SG/ Chapter specific, but basically, they'll be explored when GW makes models for them. For example, we know two things: Normal Mariens can undergo transformation into Primaris Flaws in geneseed could well carry over into Primaris This means the scope is there for Death Company, it's just a matter of there being rules and models. Same with Wulfen etc. My bet? We'll see Dante restored as a Primaris as part of the next big BA release along with one of our hallmark kits making the jump. In terms of limited variety, do remember we only have the starter set contents and it's by no means the full extent of the range. Hell, they're all snap fit for one! When the Primaris codex comes out (or Marine dex as it could be) we'll know all of their full options and support units coming. Venerable Jazzman
... My bet? We'll see Dante restored as a Primaris as part of the next big BA release along with one of our hallmark kits making the jump. ... As i pointed out recently, our HQ models (Dante, Meph & Corbs) all date back to at least 1992, so I'm fully expecting new biggerized versions Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334005-new-ba-successor-spotted/#findComment-4762141 Share on other sites
Lasuria
Even if they intend to redo our HQ they will at the very least need to finish the primaris line first, then probably some other chapters (UM I guess ...), at which point they'll need to show some love to the players that do not play SM or SMC (yeah, they exists ! :p) ... anyway I would not hold my breath for a new HQ anytime soon unfortunately :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334005-new-ba-successor-spotted/#findComment-4762366 Share on other sites
Venerable Jazzman
But with three new sculpts and a reminder that the BA upgrade sprue is still a thing, GeeDub could launch the BA codex quite early. Heads and shoulders are interchangeable with Primaris, no word yet on knees and toes. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Blood-Angels-Upgrades?_requestid=4843606 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334005-new-ba-successor-spotted/#findComment-4762465 Share on other sites
Lasuria
I was under the impression that they would continue manufacturing the current SM line until an hypothetical replacement by the primaris line no ? I don't recall seeing that they will just sell whatever they have in stock and discontinue the product when there's nothing left. Did I misunderstood ? I'm a little bit confused by where GW intends to go from here :/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334005-new-ba-successor-spotted/#findComment-4762955 Share on other sites
dread05
From what I'm getting, Primaris marines cannot join or form tactical/assault/devastator squads as we know them. They cant enter drop pods or any other transport for that matter. They dont have sergeants they have lieutenants. They cant join chapter specific squads like DC or the Unforgiven. This either means that they will remain their own specific thing as to not invalidate the older models. Or that in time there will be primaris drop pod, primaris rhino, primaris death company, prinamris everything, at which point there will be no point calling them primaris any more. If it's the first option, I think my problem with them is the size, nothing else. Charlo
Why would they be "joining" units....? They are their own units.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334005-new-ba-successor-spotted/#findComment-4763167 Share on other sites
dread05
Why are you so absolute? The Primaris were given to the Blood angels to refill their ranks. It stands to reason that the blood angels will man their companies with the new marines. Charlo
Because in game terms they are their own units :P You don't have a tactical squad with a few random big guys in. At least not yet in the rules that we know. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334005-new-ba-successor-spotted/#findComment-4763421 Share on other sites

Quixus
I was talking from a fluff point of view about that, sorry I didnt make it clear. Because GW wants you to buy the new models and not use your already built true scale marines.
