I'm looking to get an "all comers" 2,000 points list fairly economically, with a view to adding to it later. I have the Burning of Prospero box and so that will be the base of my list (10 of the Tactical marines used for a different project). With this in mind I have come up with the following 3 lists, and I would appreciate input on how these lists would work, and any thoughts or improvements I can make. All 3 lists come in at approx 2,000 points and around a £350 spend. I want an army that functions, so if I need to completely re-think these, or spend a little more, then I'll do that. okonomiyakimarine Posted May 31, 2017 Share Posted May 31, 2017 option1: in my opinion running tactical squads should be maxed out. your melta supports can be okay-ish with minimum size, but i think you have too many troop selections anyway, so think about re-organizing and have another tactical take a rhino. also let me tell you, you do not want to run the terminators. give them assault vehicles! option2: i assume the land raider is for the terminators? where does the praetor go exactly? also you miss a transport for the palatine blades. they are not very shooty, so you need an assault vehicle for them. if you drop pod all elites or get them another land raider your troops could be okay without vehicles, but remember you need scoring units that stay alive somehow. option3: with a spartan and a land raider you bring some heavy transport capacity and optional weapon platforms, but here also i think i do not see the real concept. general: with BaC or also with BaP you could aim at a RoW like Pride of the legion and take terminators and veterans as troops. you might be better of with that than with a non-RoW list ;) just get them vehicles for transport, extra weapon platforms and moving line of sight blockers. Spiritual Liege Posted May 31, 2017 Share Posted May 31, 2017 Some opinions on the 2nd list if that's what you are going for. Honestly, drop the Phoenix terminators. They are too expensive and at 2k two units of Terminators is too expensive and overkill. Stick the normal 'Nators in a Dreadclaw and give them all just power fists with 1-2 chainfists. Also give Palatine Blades either jump packs or a Dreadclaw too. Then drop the Land raider because no one is going in. Give your Tacticals Rhinos. They're gonna need that mobility. For your Praetor, give him a paragon blade instead of a claw. Alternatively look into Eidolon, he is pretty good for his points and has an absolutely fabulous model. Also drop the sponsons and havoc launcher on your Venator, they won't be shooting much with your main weapon being ordnance. Now with your leftover points, look into Contemptors in pods, Speeders of both kinds or some more armour or fliers, for example Lightnings. If you are going for 1500pt for that list, I would actually give your Praetor and Blades jump packs instead of the Dreadclaw. Since you have 2 pods, one of them must stay in reserve till turn 2 and gets charge on turn 3 earliest but if you had only Terminators in reserve and Blades and Praetor on the table, you could go for turn 2 charge with both units. If you got leftover points (which you could get from upgrades from your Venator and Terminator sarge (just get a fist or a spear and drop everything else)), pintle multi meltas on Rhinos are extremely useful. Also artificer and meltabombs on Tac sergeant are nice, but not a must if you don't have the points.
