'Repulsors' in Heresy

Recommended Posts

Now, I haven't decided *what* to think about the recently announced Repulsor grav-tank for 40k. But my first reaction upon seeing a picture of it this afternoon [appropriately enough, 'neath a meme-font quote about how the promise of technology is a thing of hte past, with so much now forgotten and never to be re-learned .. you know the one] ... was to basically go : "They finally did it. The absolute mad-men. Made the grav-tank Land Raiders the Custodes used to supposedly be equipped with."

And certainly, there's a bit of visual similarity betwixt this 'Repulsor' in terms of overall silhouette [if not necessarily armament ... whihc is half-way between quasi-Modern/realism and OTT-wut], and some of the vehicles we can see heading into the Imperial Webway in older Heresy art.

Leaving aside any serious questions about its appropriateness in fluff or otherwise for hte battlefields of the 41st Millennium, what I'm asking is what we think about the applicability of such a vehicle [potentially with a few alterations] to 30k instead. Certainly, there's potentially broader scope for grav-vehicles in 30k [as we can see from teh Custodes *actual* line of armoured vehicles]; although often of arguably more 'refined' design.

I'm all for it, running it as a Proteus should not be an issue, just buy a Dozerblade and Auxiliary Drive (+15pts) to represent a repulsor system (I mean, not getting auxiliary drive on any raider is just silly, those babies need to move! :) ) and you should be all set once you toss away the silly turrent.

Keep the Hull Lascannon, remove the turret (or give it heavy bolters instead) and 2 sponson lascannons and you might have yourself a tri-las grav proteus.

The sponsons going over where the chapter badge is in front of the doors.

dammit, i've had a leman russ i've been trying to convert into a LR proteus on my desk for months, and now you come and just bring this AWESOME idea to light?!

I think Arkhan's grav-tank is a grav-spartan, it does allow a custodes contemptor to enter after all.

What's left of him is dragged on board, one leg and no arms i think... still those Custodes dreads are massive so would need a spartan sized interior.

Having said that I envisioned it as smaller than a Spartan, simply because the Land Raider is eventually based on his design. It's a unique vehicle in any event being his personal ride, this model would be as good as any to represent it.

It's quite funny - anyone remembers the times we had to convert plastic Mark VII into heresy models? The times when there were no FW contemptors or heresy era tanks? People always converted 40k models into more fitting heresy era stuff - so yes, go with it! Remove the silly turret and missile launchers (because seriously, who need's that o.O). Equip it like a Land Raider of your choice and be happy. It's a game after all.

Same goes btw for the new Dreadnought - that thing looks like a new version of the old Rogue Trader dreads, and no one can stop me from using it as one of the countless dreadnought variants from 30k, count it as Leviathan and just ignore all the silly "Cawl invented XY" fluff.

Im going back through MOM to get some descriptions to see how i can convert this bad boy

Get a Spartan, take the grav plates from the Repulsor (or 2 :p) cut to fit, grab a turret from an immolator, replace guns with 4 volkite Culverin and mount to Spartan :D
