Darkn3ssF4lls
Hey yall, Is it worth waiting for the new books to show up on iBooks ? I saw this link for a ePub I am just not familiar with the difference between a PDF a ePub and a iBook interactive. http://www.warhammerdigital.com/warhammer-40000/rules/warhammer-40000-collection.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334242-ibook-vs-epub/ Share on other sites
Race Bannon
From my personal experience, unless you have a dedicated eBook reader, then you'll need to get ePub3 software and that can be a terrible :cuss. Either I was unlucky or too ignorant, but I'm no longer comfortable with electronic books. PDF or real thing. Others should say more on this though. Aqui
If I remember correctly Kobo will work with epub3 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334242-ibook-vs-epub/#findComment-4769759 Share on other sites
Pvnisher
iBook reads ePub I believe. I had huge problems in android trying to view my rulebooks. Switched to iPhone and have no problems viewing the books on it. Darkn3ssF4lls
Thanks all, it reads ePub last I knew. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334242-ibook-vs-epub/#findComment-4769956 Share on other sites
Pvnisher
Actually now that I remember ePub definitely works. Google books had a stupid 100mb limit on android and I could never get any ePub reader to format the rule book correctly. iBooks instantly did it. Master Avoghai
From what I remember epub is just the digital pages that you can flip. The ibooks is enhanced because you have pop up windows that open when you click on the link. For example, if you click on a weapon name you have a window with a profile appearing... cielaq and NiceGuyAdi 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334242-ibook-vs-epub/#findComment-4770389 Share on other sites
Grand Master Belial
The trouble with the iBooks version is it is essentially locked to only Apple Devices and won't transfer. I prefer the ePub or PDF versions. ronin_cse
The trouble with the iBooks version is it is essentially locked to only Apple Devices and won't transfer. I prefer the ePub or PDF versions. The other benefit the ePub versions have is you can read them on a normal computer (I have had good luck with Adobe Digital Editions although the formatting is still off), nice if you're at work and think of something you wanna look up but don't wanna pull out your iPad ;). Those enhanced editions are quite nice though so it's a bit of a trade off either way Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334242-ibook-vs-epub/#findComment-4772979 Share on other sites
Kristoff
I don't use Apple devices due to their proprietary nature. I have found UB Reader to be fine on 3 separate phones so far. I also can use Readium through the Chrome browser or FBReader on my desktop. ePub is great for a flowing page style that just scrolls along. PDF is great if you are using a sufficiently large tablet or you want to keep something handy on a flash drive to scan and read. You can set them to be a specific page size or whatever. The iBook is great if you are using an Apple product and want it to do almost everything for you. Many of them used to include an army builder as well. Has GW announced anything like their AoS app for the Dark Imperium? D3L
why not just use Calibre, any format, and any OS, and open source at the same time, with clever library management Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334242-ibook-vs-epub/#findComment-4776003 Share on other sites

Ascanius
I find Azardi, the program they recommend for ePub3 on Windows, to be more of a headache than it's worth. The Yncarne
Anybody know if there will be an enhanced iTunes edition of the rulebook? I see the normal one is $20US cheaper than the hardback I just bought. I see no mention of an enhanced version on warhammerdigital.com or iTunes. Thanks.
