NightHowler
It looks like updated rules for Bran are not being released. At least not yet. This was just up on War of Sigmar: https://war-of-sigmar.herokuapp.com/bloggings/2119 If you scroll through the list of Characters getting rules (second image), Bran's not in there. At least not yet. Maybe he'll get rules in our codex when it comes out, but if they follow the new paradigm, that will probably only happen if he gets a model. Valerian
Yeah, I mentioned it in the other thread, but with no model, they aren't going to provide any rules. Same reason they dropped several GK characters from the codex from 5e to 7e - they didn't have specific models, so the rules for Mordrak and Thawn were dropped. This is how GW is protecting themselves from 3rd parties taking advantage of the gap between rules and models now. NightHowler
It's unfortunate, but on the bright side maybe it encourages them to work faster on putting out new models? Fingers crossed anyway. Dantay VI
I call .If you look at that list of characters, a lot of them do not have models. So no model= no rule does not apply. Dantay VI
Reply from FW. Hi Danny, yes there was a reason why we did not include him, essentially as we did not make a model or upgrade for him our design team decided not to release a Bran Redmaw data sheet .we have fed a lot of customer feedback to our design team regarding this decision and will continue to do so as we get more questions in.We will likely see a Bran update in a future campaign book .Thanks againHow would you rate my reply?Great Okay Not GoodIf there is anything further we can do to assist you, or if you have any queries about the information we have requested or provided, please telephone us.Regards,Forge World Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334248-red-maw-retiring/#findComment-4773503 Share on other sites
grouj
I have always felt that Forgeworld doesn't really like the wolves, and this just kind of cements this for me. It has never made sense to me that Wolves (and other chapters for that matter) decided that they didn't like the deredeo dreadnought (I can totally see a long fang version of the boatnaught) and some crippling 30k issues for wolves have got me like whoa. The removal of an awesome character because "we didn't have a model for it" is just silly. Why make the rules before you even have a model for it? hammer grimblood
Well that's a load of :cusse. What about all of those other Badab War characters that don't have models. Dantay VI
I did ask, and cited all the characters without models and also Shadow Captain Korvydae who does have a model. This was their response: Hi Danny,Thanks for the email To be honest Im not sure, rather than speculate or guess as to why our studio has decided to do this I will forward your question directly over to our studio.I would not expect a direct answer from them as they are incredibly busy designing new books But I am sure at some we will return to previous characters and units that missed a data sheet this time in future publications. Thanks againHow would you rate my reply?Great Okay Not Good If there is anything further we can do to assist you, or if you have any queries about the information we have requested or provided, please telephone us.Regards,Forge World Fingers crossed Redmaw either gets picked up by GW or is in another Mymeara update. Castellan Wulfrik
Glad you took the issue to them directly. Redmaw had some of the most unique rules out of all the Space Marine characters, would be a shame to lose him for no reason other than designer apathy. One can only hope GW have taken on Bran Redmaw for us. It is rather unfortunate for fans of Bran. I am not familiar with all of the characters in that list but it looks like a majority are from the Badab campaign. Outside of the Horus Heresy that was one of their larger campaigns. So that may be a reason there. Also since those chapters are primarily Forgeworld chapters maybe they are leaving Bran to GW to develop. Might just be a matter of patience too. Maybe an updated IA book will have his rules. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334248-red-maw-retiring/#findComment-4791853 Share on other sites
Brother Hellion
Funny, I thought in Curse of Wulfen book last edition ago GW made a stand in module for old Redmaw using kit bashing. Then again, who was that wolf lord with the jump pack, duel wielding a frost ax and chain sword? Filius
I think this is especially sad, as the FW Model for Bran that can be found in the Interweb is one of the best looking Space Wolves Models I have ever seen, ever ever! Rune Priest Jbickb
Indeed. Excellent model. Would have been a top seller for sure. Sad that it never saw the light of day. I'd have bought one. Nadir
If it would be out, I would buy him. But honestly I don't like the sculpt. Axe is blunt like a hammer, hair and cape flow in opposite directions, the whole pose is more like 2ed. sculpts (flat). Still, I want him on mine shelf:D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334248-red-maw-retiring/#findComment-4796369 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
The model from back in the day of Bran model was a WIP, but designers shelved him because they couldn't figure a way to model him and then also a Redmaw, plus they werent feeling it iirc. Castellan Wulfrik
I think this is especially sad, as the FW Model for Bran that can be found in the Interweb is one of the best looking Space Wolves Models I have ever seen, ever ever! That reminds me, what makes this even weirder is that FW already sell the best proxy model out there; the Skinwolf. Bizarre omission. On a similar note I asked about the Repressor ages ago and they said they were reworking the mould, the model has got new index rules and a catalogue price for a re-release was floating around at some point but the model still hasn't come back. Forgeworld just do things at their own pace and leisure, so even if they change their minds regarding Bran I can't see him making an immediate comeback. A quick dataslate release would be the ideal, wouldn't take them long judging by the modest amount of time people seem to suspect they spent on the index's. Grey Mage
Well considering the Corsairs are getting, apparently, about 3 units in the FW index, I think it likely well see a DoM update in the next year.
