Bloody Legionnaire
Is there a description anywhere of the Word Bearers units that were present for the Drop Site Massacre? mactire
IIRC I think they were nearly all there, Lorgar with most of the legion and also Argal Tal with the Val Gorbak. Oh cool, so basically however I wanted to build my army will be fluffy. I do want my WBs to be Isstvan V themed but I had no clue which units to include in my army to represent the forces of WBs what would have been present during that operation. Sepher
Massacre's selection of chapters present at the Dropsite Massacre includes: The Serrated Sun, The Tri-Fold Crown, The Star of Judgement, the Osseous Throne, the Broken Scythe and the Sundered Tower. A chapter's anywhere from several hundred to a few thousand marines so there's plenty of room in fluff to pick a sinister name for your army if these don't do it for you. Each chapter specialized in a different form of warfare; you can have your dudes be siege masters or leaders of hordes of levies or armored companies or whatever else. The Red Angel
Is there a description anywhere of the Word Bearers units that were present for the Drop Site Massacre? Yeah most of them were there I believe, I'm unsure of the timelines regarding istvaan and calth? I was under the impression that istvaan, calth and prospero all happened around the same time? which might mean some chapters weren't? I'm not a fan of battle of the abyss or whatever it was called so I don't remember it too well Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334287-word-bearers-at-isstvan-v/#findComment-4772872 Share on other sites
Spiritual Liege
Calth definitely (?) happened after Istvaan, since Lorgar was present on both. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334287-word-bearers-at-isstvan-v/#findComment-4774245 Share on other sites
Lord Tharand
Calth definitely (?) happened after Istvaan, since Lorgar was present on both. Lorgar was not present at Calth. He however was rampaging around the 500 worlds in the Shadow Crusade though. Spiritual Liege
He wasn't present on the planet itself but wasn't he aboard one of the ships? I remember him speaking with Guilliman through some system aboard the ship. Bloody Legionnaire
I remember from first heretic when the Word Bearers were battling against some automatons at a non compliant world and utilized units of bikers, assault squads, and possibly land speeders? Is that a fairly common force/theme I could build a fluffy army around? Tbh, word bearers can be formed up of whatever you really fancy? if you're avoiding their specific rites of war which for istvaan I probably would? So maybe some big tacticals with lorgar leading with some chaplains, maybe erebus? Few tanks etc. the odd squad or two of vorbak and some bikers. Vorbak were definetely there as they got pretty minced by Corax. Bikers were there as I remember the biker vorbak guy dying? and i'd assume as a standard deployment that they'd have tanks, so predators, sicarans, raiders, whirlwinds. Can really do anything Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334287-word-bearers-at-isstvan-v/#findComment-4774410 Share on other sites
WingCommander
He wasn't present on the planet itself but wasn't he aboard one of the ships? I remember him speaking with Guilliman through some system aboard the ship. Yes, he was aboard his battleship above Calth, had a brief talk with Guilliman via radio com and summoned a bunch of daemons onto the bridge of Guilli's flagship. Shortly after he left the system to team up with Angron for the Shadow Crusade. He was never in the Calth system and was speaking with Guilliman via some long range communication method. I guess not that it really matters but I'll go find my copy of Know No Fear and get to the bottom of this mystery!
