Wargamer
That title probably made no sense whatsoever, so here's the long version.Chatting to a friend the other day,. he was reeling off his Chapter's unique traits and I initially thought, based on his description, that he was implying the Chapter was founded using Thousand Sons Geneseed. It turned out it wasn't, but that got me thinking... So here are my thoughts: imagine a Cursed Founding Chapter made using the geneseed of a Chaos Legion. What traits do you think they would have? Now because I've always had a secret soft-spot for Nurgle, I'm inclined to focus on Death Guard, but any input on any Legion is welcome. What do you think the major, obvious changes would be to the Chapter? What physical changes would occur? What doctrinal changes would work their way in over time? I'm also assuming the Chapter would not know the true origin of the gene-seed, for obvious reasons. Doctor Perils
Before heading down a slippery slope, I advise against stating explicitly that a chapter is of traitor descent, or of mixed/"chimeric" descent - however, such can be *subtely* implied ;) Remember, with cursed founding chapters, a (*the*) major defining feature should always be the Curse they suffer, and not whatever their geneseed is (black dragons have specific mutations that would doom them should the inquisition find out; lamenters are unlucky... and we end up forgetting that they are a Salamanders or a blood angels successlr) Since this would be a new chapter formed from (we imagine) "pure" geneseed, with no contact with their genitors, their culture would be entirely up to you, and physical deviations from "astartes norm" might include more pain tolerance (though not necessarily, as it seems morty did a lot to give them this ability when training) - there would be no outside reason for any extant physical changes (except if their curse is to gradually turn into plague marines despite being loyal?) Wrt the name: I'm not partial to "bloody" used in this way for any loyal or traitor chapter, it just seems weird - "blood" would be fine. "Magpies" just doesn't really evoke much to me, apart from "birds that steal stuff" - it certainly induces no fear or awe, which any self respecting marine wants to do... However, these are just my personal feelings on naming conventions, feel free to ignore them :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334295-bloody-magpies-brainstorming-chaos-loyalists/#findComment-4772949 Share on other sites
