So me and my friends just recently bought and assembled a Zone Mortalis board, as we were looking for new ways to play 40k and to get psyched for the hobby. Fully painted and assembled. Which is where I suck at as I get easily distracted from painting and generally paint one miniature and then get bored. So what I am hoping is that this blog will keep me motivated and on track for the game that will take place on the 1st July (or 2nd pending schedules.) So to start. This is the list I will be using to rock in the Zone. I decided on Imperial Fists as I love the fluff on these guys in the heresy. I found a more economic way to create them as well as the Templars. Originally I was going to go the full ForgeWorld route but I still need to do adult stuff and I can't eat resin, unfortunately. I undercoated him black and built up from a brown to the yellow it is now after a few attempts on others before making a start on him. Templar Brethren Assembled and primed. The poses are pretty similar but I wanted the chained weapons so that they emulated Sigismund's model. Planning on having the shoulder pads and helmets yellow. Tempted in going full yellow with them at a later date so that they match Sigismund but will wait and see first. Managed to get the shields from ForgeWorld on the cheap which was a result. I did manage to get a few pictures of my groups progress with their forces for the future game however. Should have explained earlier. The other forces being gathered for this game is going to be pretty epic and I'm getting excited thinking about how this is going to go down. The forces on the loyalist side are the Imperial Fists, and the Custodian Guard. While the traitors will be Thousand Sons and the Word Bearers. The games will be 2v2 and then will seperate into 1v1s as the day goes on. It didn't need that much converting to fit on thankfully, as that was a huge worry at the time. It just needed a few cuts on the left arm to fit correctly and then having the gun arm being angled slightly to fit through the gun hole. Will need to green stuff the slight gap between the arm and chest, however. Either way, let me know what you think. I tried in a few areas as a test but I snapped the shield in a few places. The games we had planned for the Zone Mortalis board have been drastically expanded from 2v2. Our mate who is bringing the Word Bearers runs a local gaming club "The Overlords" and has convinced us to bring the Mortalis board for he has another member who has bought and assembled the same board as us lot. So we will be combining the two to make a 12x8 maze of pure death. This however will put the time frame for when the armies will need to be ready, and I am really thankful for that as I dont think I would have been able to get everything to the standard I would have liked. So a win win situation basically. Obviously pics and battle reports will be taken for this day. But enough about that, here are the Templars that are almost ready. You can see where I am thinking about putting the metalics and such onto them, as I wanted to break up all the black on the legs and was kinda relieved that the metal on the knee pads look pretty cool.
