Gentlemanloser
I'm confused by the wording on our Datasheets, and the rules for Understrength squads. For example, the Paladin Squad starts at 3 models and can include either up to 2 additional models or up to 7 additional models. The Points page lists a Paladin Squad as 3-10 models. If you only wanted a Paladin Squad of 4 models, would that then cost 220 points (inc SB...) or due to the Understrength Squad rules would we still be costed at 5 Paladin and 275 points? Holier Than Thou
You can purchase individual members if you are using points, it's only if you are using power levels that understrength squads comes into effect. Seizeman
The minimum size for paladins is 3 models. Understrenght rule only affect units below the minimum size. And no, you can't purchase individual members, ignore what Holier said. That rule is only to allow people to play the unit even if they don't have enough miniatures to reach the minimum. Gentlemanloser
So the understrength rule would come into effect if you only had 2 Paladin, and wanted a Paladin Squad. You would pay the points for a minimum 3 Paladin Squad. But in matched play, as the Squad size is 3-10 models we could field a Squad of 6, or 7 Paladin, and pay the points cost for them only, and not for a full squad of 10. Holier Than Thou
Sorry. You can purchase individual models above the minimum size squad with the given points. You must pay at least the cost for a minimum sized unit even if you don't have enough models for the minimum size as Seizeman says. So the same points for 1-3 Paladins, plus additional for each individual Paladin above that, to a maximum number of points for 10 (before adding wargear). So taking 6 Paladins costs less than taking 10. However if you are using power levels then you have to pay the power level for groups of models, ie X power for 1-3 Paladins, Y power for 4-5 Paladins or Z power for 6-10 Paladins. You don't get an individual power level for individual models so 6 Paladins costs the same as 10 Paladins. That's what I was trying (not very well) to say.
